As the air turns crisp. . .

… it’s time to think about preparing for winter!

(Okay. I know some of you live in warmer climes. But here? It’s already starting to get cold.)

It’s rare that I will recommend a specific product, but today I am going to confess to you my steadfast, unwavering, unnatural love for this down alternative comfortericon which I have owned for a few years. I happen to be allergic to… well, just about everything. Including down. And I had long wished for a fluffy, downy blanket of my very own (that didn’t make me sneeze) when someone recommended this comforter to me.

It was—bar none—the single best purchase I’ve made this decade. It has kept its shape and fluffiness and is incredibly warm and let’s face it; you simply cannot beat the price. Besides, you can still use the 12% off and $1 shipping coupon when you order it!

Show me a better deal (particularly if you’re buying king sized) and I’ll eat my pillow.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I spent the weekend shopping around for a down alternative comforter for my son and was getting discouraged. I just ordered mine for a whopping total of $36.19 – yippee!

Well, boo. I bought a down alternative comforter set (includes cozy down-alternative pillows that feel like down and a fantastic mattress pad) from Pottery Barn a few months back as a gift to myself and paid quite a lot more than that, though for all of what I got it was still pretty good price-wise. From the standpoint of quality, I’m very pleased with the PB set. I’ve had down alternative duvets in the past that ended up with all the stuffing down at one end. NOT particularly warm OR attractive-looking. The PB duvet thus far has kept its shape, even with a couple washings.

(Btw, I’m not sure if others are having this problem, but I can’t seem to make the link work. :( What company is this comforter from?)

No link for me either! This is too cruel…you have me yearning for a down-free bit of heaven, and don’t tell me where to find it!! :)

Well, the link worked for me, but I have to say, it is hard to think about ANY kind of comforter when it is still 90 degrees outside. Gotta love the south.

Thanks for the tip! We were just talking this weekend about how nice it would be to have a new comforter for us this winter so that we can donate our “old” one to our guests, what a great price and I can’t wait to see and feel my new comforter!

MMM…blankets. Here in the cold Northwoods we call Wisconsin, you can never have enough. Thanks for the tip!

Okay, first things first: I want to move to wherever you live where it gets “COLD” starting in August. It is still one-hundred-and-five-freaking-degrees here in California.

    I am so jealous.

Mir! Thank you! I now have a pretty, pretty duvet on its way to me!

As for other folks looking for king-sized ones, I ended up going with the $10 more ‘colorful’ version, because they still had some available in king-sized.
