Cheap Dyson alert

Amazon’s got the Dyson DC15 vacuum available for $225 shipped. It’s a refurb, but comes with a warranty, etc. Could be the time to grab a Dyson, if you’ve been waiting for a bargain.

Of course, I already have a vacuum. What I need is a deal on someone who will actually take it out of the closet and use it. Alas!

It’s a free e-paper-card

I love e-cards because I am 1) cheap and 2) lazy, and that way I can wait until the last minute, pay nothing, and still let someone know I’m thinking about ‘em. (Though, when I write it out like that, I guess I’m not any real prize as a friend or family member….)

Sometimes only a paper card will do, though. What’s a cheap and lazy person to do then?

Easy! Go choose a card at Hallmark, personalize it, and let them mail it for you. Easy! And if you use coupon code TRIAL, it’ll be free, too. (You need to have or create an account to use the code. One freebie per person, offer valid through April 12th, 2009.)

Now all you have to do is remember to do it, and I can’t help you there. Sorry.

Procrastination pays off (again)

Remember when there was a deal on a Dead Sea Minerals gift set at Graveyard Mall? I thought it was a pretty good value at around $35, but I wasn’t ready to spend that much, even still.

Check out Graveyard Mall today: The set is down to just $6.25! These won’t arrive until the end of April, but you can wait a little longer for such an awesome deal, no? Shipping is $5.99, and (as always), the more sets you buy, the cheaper it works out to per set.

These are great gift closet gifts—especially because you can break up the sets and have lots of individual gifts. Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret.

Night night, sleep tight

My name is Mir, and I’m very passionate about pillows. (“Hi, Mir!”) Not the decorating kind, no—who has time for that kind of frou-frou?—but I’m very serious about getting a good night’s sleep, and so I am similarly devoted to finding the perfect pillow.

For a long time I used a contoured memory foam pillow, and I liked it a lot. I was just trying to remember why I stopped using it, and it seems to me that my husband disliked them (he’s a pillow-scruncher) (I’m so glad we can share these things) and we bought new pillows. Hmmmm. I sort of miss it, though.

If you’ve been considering memory foam for a better night’s sleep, check out this 2-pack of memory foam pillows at Kohls today. They’re marked down to $19.99 for the pair (from $70!), and today’s the last day to ship your entire Kohls order for just $4.99. Kohls card holders can also use code MARMVC for an additional 15% off (that one expires today), and code MVC7926 for free shipping. No Kohls card? You can still use NEW4600 for an extra 10% off.

Enjoy your new pillows!

They say music is linked to math

We all know that playing an instrument is good for our kids, but there’s nothing quite like listening to a kid learn to play the violin. Or flute. Or trumpet. Or… well, anything other than “hot cross buns” on the piano. It’s excruciating.

All of this is to say that Wii Music is today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal at $29.98 shipped (40% off). That’a great price, but it means you get to listen to your kid practice every single instrument in painstaking detail. And then you get to watch the music videos they made of themselves practicing. And then you get to pretend you think they’re awesome, instead of admitting that you had briefly wondered if a cat was being eviscerated in your family room.

But the kids like it, sooo… hey! Where are you going??

Ignite your Nintendo DS

Hello? (Hello… hello… hello….) We all seem a little sleepy, this Monday morning. I feel like I’ve spent the last several hours talking to myself. And that’s fine, and all, but I really do prefer it when it feels like someone’s on the other side of the shiny box, y’know?

Let’s see if we can fix that.

Ignition Entertainment has just come out with two cool new games for the Nintendo DS: Blue Dragon Plus, and Docomodake BOING!. Both are rated E for Everyone, and are sure to bring you hours of peace and quiet. Er, I mean, hours of fun while your children become engrossed and forget to poke their siblings.

I’m feeling especially generous today—three lucky Want Not readers are each going to receive copies of both games! For those of you with one or two kids (or no kids) this is perfect! For those of you with more than two kids… well… ummm… you’re pretty, and good luck.

So! Want to win ‘em? First go read the contest rules and regulations, then come back here and leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. Eastern (8:59 p.m. Pacific) on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 for a chance to win. Three winners will be selected via random number generation. One entry per person, valid email address required, and all of the other stuff in the rules (I know half of you don’t read the rules, so I try—oh how I try—to cover the pertinent stuff here), and be kind to small animals and always wear clean underwear.

What? Oh, nevermind. Go!

Big savings on Blu-ray

You’ve got until April 4th, 2009 to reap the Blu-ray savings at Amazon—select discs are eligible for the “Buy More, Save More” promotion, which means you can save $20 on 3, $50 on 6, or $100 on 10!

There’s plenty of family favorites available. Might want to mention it to the Easter Bunny. (Though, if your Easter Bunny brings Blu-ray discs, I think I’d like to meet him.)

They’ve come a long way, baby

Remember when rice cakes were what people on a diet ate? No fat, no salt, no taste? Well, things have certainly changed—now rice cakes are just as bad for you as potato chips.

Erm, I mean, now rice cakes are delicious! If you don’t mind their loss of status as a health food, perhaps you’d like to sign up for a free sample of Quaker Quakes or Mini Delights. Be a rebel and choose chocolate, or continue pretending they’re healthy and choose cheddar. I won’t tell, either way.

It’s possible I watch too much TV

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is seasons 1 through 4 of Boston Legal for 65% off.

I used to love that show. Of course, back when it used to be the air, I always thought of Star Trek whenever I saw William Shatner.

This morning when I saw the DVDs, the first thing I thought about was Priceline. (“Priceliiiiine, negotiaaaaator!”) You’re welcome.

Games that pay you back

There’s a whole slew of video games at F.Y.E. with rebates, right now. Perhaps the Easter Bunny is thinking of leaving a really nice gift this year…? Who knows!

Check out the Wii games with rebates up to $20 back, as well as the DS games with rebates up to about $18 back. You do have to mail in for the rebates, so proceed at your own risk, of course… but this might be a cool way to snag a deal on something you were planning to purchase, anyway.
