Still cheaper than breakfast out

I’m just going to say it: I don’t understand why anyone buys pancake mix. There. Let’s all wait for the lightning bolt to strike me. Now that I can’t eat wheat anymore, I have to make my own mix, but even before that, I preferred our homemade blend to anything that came in a box.

Then again, it’s possible that I’m a little weird.

That said, I know plenty of people who prefer the convenience of a packaged mix, and that’s fine. I am not the Pancake Police. So if that’s more your style, you might be interested in this Stonewall Kitchen Pancake & Waffle Mix at Amazon. For one thing, it’s at nearly 5 stars after 42 ratings, and if you read some of the reviews you may wonder (okay, I wondered) if one of the ingredients in this mix is crack cocaine. People seem to really love it. For another thing, it’s currently on special, so coupon code STNWL9IO knocks the price down 10% and then buying via Subscribe & Save brings it down another 15% (and gives you free shipping), so you end up with 2 giant canisters (over four pounds of mix) for $12.69.

It’s more expensive than the stuff at the supermarket, yes, but maybe it bridges that gap between Generic Big Box and going out for a fancy brunch. Barring that, it’d be perfect for gifts with some real maple syrup, and you’ll look like a big spender because it’s normally about twice what you end up paying.

Yes, what Courtney said. I would love a waffle maker, but I don’t know where to begin.

Also, thanks for the heads up on this deal! This is a great brand that I can only find at the fancy grocery store that is overpriced and not conveniently located for me. Can’t wait to make pancakes this weekend!

I often buy mix when we are @ the in laws beach house because many of them only need water.

I know it’s ridiculous to say a pancake mix is THAT good, but it really is THAT good. I’m all over this one.

I know I’m not Mir – but thougth I’d chime in on waffle maker ideas for Courtney – I had friends watch for them at thrift stores and got a Farberware for $6 and it’s awesome. I never would have spurged for even a cheap one probably but absolutely love my $6 find!!

I’ve been looking for a waffle maker as well—big catch is I don’t want a Belgian waffle maker, which is all I can seem to find. I keep hoping to catch one that’s been chipped out of stone from the dark ages at Goodwill but haven’t had any luck so far.

I have to say that I prefer homemade mix myself, but I got this mix as a gift and have to say Mir, I think there is something addictive in it. It’s amazing.
