The recently-released Planet Earth series from the Discovery Channel has been touted as one of the must-see works of the decade. And I don’t know about you, but even when this sort of thing is educational (it is!) I have trouble ponying up $80 for DVDs.
Well, here’s some good news: The Discovery Store just slashed the price down to $59.95, plus you can use coupon code COM10 for an additional $10 off your $50+ order, plus if you pay via Paypal they’ll take off another $10. Shipping is only $3.25.
That’s the whole series—5 DVDs—for about $43. Not too bad.
This is so weird. I had about 5 or 6 of the episodes on my not-Tivo that I never watched, and I finally just deleted them to make room, saying to myself, if I really wanted to watch it, I would have watched it by now, and if I change my mind, I can order them. And now, I think I will. Although, there’s no telling how long they will sit there before I actually get a chance to watch them. But what I have seen of them is amazing! Thanks for the great deal!
That’s cheaper than even costco– they had them for $52.
You can also get the BBC version for around $50 starting price and then use the same coupons. The only difference is the narator, other than that they are the same. I even called the Discovery Store a couple of months ago to ask why the Discovery Channel Version was so much more and they had no idea.
Paid with PayPal but did not get the $10 off. I have sent a msg to Customer Service.
Kim (and anyone else): Read the Paypal deal terms here; the discount is applied upon Paypal approval, so you won’t see it immediately, but it will be applied.
Score! Hubby’s been eyeing this and it’s now going to be a Christmas gift. Thanks, Pretty Mir!
The British narrator (David Attenborough) is much better than the discovery channel narrator (Sigorney Weaver)…
His Blue Planet series is very good too.
I’ve been eying this for ages. Thanks for the great find!
Thanks for the heads up. I got this :). It will be perfect for my son!
a little late to the party on this one, but i was just wondering where you heard about the $10 from paypal at?
of course, the $53.20 i paid is still a good deal, even if the paypal discount doesn’t come through, but your “terms” link up there isn’t working, and i haven’t seen anything to back up this additional discount…
just wondering! 🙂
