Happy nearly Mother’s Day

Hey, today marks the last Amazon Friday Sale before Mother’s Day. Too late to order anything for the big day, of course, but very timely if you’re wanting to get yourself a little something just to say, “Self, you’re awesome.” (Or, alternatively, to say, “Self, that is a mighty fine deal.” I shop that way all the time.)

If you need a serious baby backpack, this Kelty carrier is the gold standard. (I had a slightly lower model, back in the day, and while the price made me swallow my tongue, it really was worth it.)

I’m not normally a fan of accouterments for the inside of a car, but these seat covers just made me laugh.

Oooh, the George Foreman grill with removable plates is back. Not a killer price, but a good one if you’ve been wanting this. (Handy tip: Do not buy a Foreman grill with non-removable plates. Trust me.)

Nothing says “Happy Mother’s Day to me!” like the gift of a floor-washing robot. I’m just sayin’.

How cute is this little bookcase? So cute!

So the other day I said that Weber grills never go on sale, but that’s not entirely true. If you want this little one that’s a pretty great price. (And it’s so cute! And small!)

Cheap bamboo sheets! Only the queen is cheap, though—other sizes, not so much.

Oh, the things I learn at Amazon. I didn’t even know feet needed detox. Go figure.

Have a great Friday, everyone!

  1. Mir – you were truly LOVELY on NBC, for the 20 seconds I actually saw you!

And the detox isn’t for your feet…supposedly, the “crud” in your body comes OUT thru your feet (not a big believer in that hocus-pocus new age-y stuff, lol!)

  2. That detox feet stuff has been proven to be a bunch of bunk. One of those myth-busters. And darn-it-all, I DO have a George Foreman Grill with non-removable plates. My husband thinks I’m crazy every time I cook with it since clean-up is such a mess.

  3. I love, love, love my GF Grill!!! I grabbed it the last time Mir posted a deal for it. I don’t cook fish any other way since getting it. My fish is no longer dry or burnt! Chicken isn’t rubbery anymore either. As a result, my husband doesn’t complain about me having Want Not up on the screen or getting another package in the mail after reading one of Mir’s posts!!

Clean up is a breeze for me – I just use the fork/spatula provided to scrape it down, soak in the sink during dinner and through it in the dishwasher. I highly recommend this life saver!!

  4. BTW – I have the GF Grill with removable plates. I don’t THROW (oops on that in my last post!!!) the original version of the grill in the dishwasher!

  5. Too cute. The bookshelf is matched with a corkscrew.

  6. Mir, just to echo the previous comments about the detox foot pads, I actually did some research on a couple of different sites that have customer reviews of products (can’t remember the sites, but they should be findable via Google) and the reviews were rather mixed.

One person said they put one of the foot pads in distilled water, and they turned black just like they did on their feet. Of course, the argument could be made that the foot pads just absorbed the toxins right out of the air…. Wouldn’t it be nice if the MythBusters did a segment on foot pads?

Also, when I went to the Amazon page you linked, there were other brands for less.

And now I will run and hide from any objects thrown in my direction, lol.

  7. Okay, to clarify, I was not suggesting anyone buy the foot pads. I was making fun of the foot pads. Please, don’t buy the foot pads. Mmmkay? 🙂

  8. Oh my. People who bought the detox patches also bought the FURminator…

  9. only the Queen is cheap… 🙂

  10. The FURminator actually does work. I guess gullible people will believe that both products have value, but will only be right about one.

  11. Yeah, I’ve heard LOTS of great reviews of the FURminator! 🙂

  12. FURminator is a great great invention, I am in awe of it!! Even our short haired doggies benefit from it.

  13. I third (or fourth?) the joy of a GF grill with the removable plates — I’ll never go back to the original style.

  14. I have to give another shout out to the Furminator – it really works better than any other brush we’ve tried!

  15. Frog Bucket Seat Cover? What’s a Frog Bucket? Never mind.

  16. I HAVE heard good things about the FURminator. It just sounds like the same person who is detoxing needs some serious fur removal, and that can’t be a good thing.

  17. I actually got a Scooba for Mother’s Day, but we got it at Linens n Things. It is on sale for $249 and they take Bed BAth and Beyond 20% coupons making it a full $100 cheaper than Amazon!

  18. Mir, I think your comments on the foot pads were a bit on the ambivalent side, and we didn’t pick up on your actual meaning, lol.
