Oprah loves the Kindle

So I guess last week on Oprah, everyone in the audience got a free Amazon Kindle because it’s one of her favorite things and you know, why not give the little people a little present…?

(A little $359 present. Of course.)

If you’ve had your eye on the Kindle, Oprah’s infatuation is about to pay off for you, even if you weren’t in the audience last week. All this week, if you purchase a Kindle, you can use coupon code OPRAHWINFREY to save $50. That’s only a 14% savings or so, but on an item that basically never goes on sale.

I would love to own one of these, actually. Just probably not enough to plunk down over three hundred dollars for it. (Confidential to Oprah: Call me!)

  1. I bought one yesterday with the Oprah code. I should have it tomorrow. SO EXCITED. The truth is that it will be really useful for work. I have really voluminous files that I have to read, all of which are in pdf format at first. We print them and I read the paper files– but its like a 7 inch think notebook. This way I can read it anywhere, while I am waiting somewhere …etc.

  2. I’m so envious of anyone who has this. Pea green I tell you.

  3. They’re very, very cool. My husband works in publishing, and his company bought him one for his ten-year anniversary. He’s sooo smitten with it.

  4. My husband (who really, really, really rules), bought me one of these for my birthday, and I LOVE it!

I’m a librarian, so I have a healthy obsession with physical books, and I was hesitant to use anything electronic to read. I’m happy to say that it is a wonderful way to read, not at all like reading off of a computer screen.

I wish that they would reduce the price though since that is a bit steep. Maybe the next generation will be more affordable.

  5. thank you, thank you, thank you! I have wanted one of these since they came out. My husband is going to kill me, but I will tell him it is my Christmas present from him.
