Get there, even if you’re me

Yesterday I was trying to coordinate a meeting with a friend and she told me where she was and said, “So you know how far that is to your place.” There was a pause and as I said, “Did you forget who you’re talking to…?” she simultaneously added, “Oh, right, no you don’t.”

My lack of navigational ability is legendary. Which is why I love my GPS, because it allows me to pretend I know where I’m going.

Today Buy.com is offering a refurbished Garmin Nuvi 255 for just $120 shipped. For reference, this unit gets 4.5 stars and costs $30 more, new, over at Amazon.

This Nuvi offers the all-important text-to-speech feature (says “Turn right on Oak Street” rather than just “Turn right”), as well as having all the other things you really love in a GPS unit, like the ability to save you from looking like a brain-damaged person who’s incapable of reading a map.

Or maybe that’s just me.

  1. Oh, it’s not just you, Mir.

  2. Heh. I know someone who, even following her GPS, managed to get stuck in a frozen swamp half a mile off of any road. Oh, and someone else (WITH GPS) who got stranded on a cart path in the middle of the AZ desert, miles from civilization, with no cell service. So it’s not just you.
