Yes, I really do spend all day with the Amazon Holiday Lightning Deals in a window in the middle of my desktop, lest I miss something neat. It’s… kind of pitiful, I know, but it’s also taking care of gifts for the rest of the year, so I’m okay with it.
In about ten minutes a deal is going to come up there on this No Stress Chess Set, and I’m going to jump on it. The reviews are amazing, and I’ll confess that I am so lousy at chess that I have refused to play with my kids. Even I could hone my skills and learn to play a decent game this way, I think. I’m intrigued. [Edited to add: $8 shipped with Prime!]
(And yes, there’s a whole batch of new deals going live at the same time. I have no idea what sort of system they’re using to determine how many deals go live when, but this upcoming 1:00 p.m. Eastern mark always seems to yield a bunch.)
I’ve got that game and it’s the ONLY way I would ever have learned chess. In some ways it’s like chess with flashcards and “no stress” sounds so much nicer than “for dummies”.
