Category Hot Hot Hot!

Don’t forget—you have until just before midnight tonight to enter to win an eco-friendly Idbids Starter Kit for your favorite little eco-warrior.

But you can’t win if you don’t enter, so make sure you get your comment in before the deadline.

As always, please leave your entry on the actual contest post. The comments on this post are reserved for discussion of your favorite “hot, new trend.” I’ll go first: My daughter has recently informed me that she simply must have a pair of Converse sneakers. I don’t think she believed me when I told her that I’d had to have a pair at her age, as well. Heh.

  1. Famous Footwear is having a sale on Converse right now – 40-70% off. Must be fate! 😉

  2. Well, for the preschool set it’s Skechers sneakers. My 4 y/o informed me that she must have Skechers and they must be “cute”. (She judges everything by whether she will look “cute”)

And, dating myself, i remember vividly the converse sneaker craze of the 80’s. I was busy trying to get Capezio jazz shoes at that point and dye a streak in my bangs ala Duran Duran. . . .

  3. Great deals on Converse on Evilbay, too. 🙂 Got three pair for Sydney for an average of $10/pr including shipping. 🙂 All in very close to new condition.

  4. my almost 9 year old loves her old worn jeans as they have a rip in the knee which she claims “makes her cool like a teenager”

  5. My 2 year old got a black hightop pair for Christmas from his 19 year old aunt. I (cheap though I am) refused to buy them for him. HOWEVER, I may decide to buy his next pair….They run big, and he will get a good bit of wear out of them, but HE CAN’T TAKE THEM OFF! We were fighting the battle of the shoes every time he got in the car seat or home, but he wears the Converse nearly every day, and since they fit tight around the ankles and Mommy double knots (job hazard-pre-k teacher) he can’t get out of them! Worth their weight in gold!

  6. I had a pair of red and gray plaid Converse in high school. Thankfully those were the school colors and spirit day was a big deal.

  7. I think the Converse hit every generation…mine was alll about the multiple colors in the early 90s. I can still recreate the look on my face when my dad called them my “chuck taylors”…

  8. I see Land’s End is bringing Tretorn sneakers back. I loved my Tretorns. Mine had the yellow “v” on them. And regarding Converse sneaks, I agree that Chucks have a place in every generation. I had purple high top ones that I put orange shoe strings in middle school and ever since college I have had low top black ones in my shoe rotation.

  9. I gave my purple pair of Converse from my late teens/early 20’s to my 15-year-old niece this year. She nearly wept with gratitude.
