TGIF, indeed

Was this the longest week ever, or is it just me? I can’t remember being this happy to see a Friday in a long time. Think my kids will mind if I bid them goodnight, tonight, and tell them not to wake me until Monday…? (Just a little fantasy. I would never do that. I always let them wake me on Sunday night.)

Anyway! I was hoping that maybe, for once, the Amazon Friday Sale might help snap me out of the doldrums. Of course, they’re still mostly featuring coffee (Dear Amazon, Exactly how many warehouses full of coffee do you need? Love, Mir), but there are a few other notables. Like this Zoe Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is what’s in my cabinet right now. I bought it because it was cheap, not because it was voted a best choice by the New York Times, but whatever—it’s good. And right now if you buy via Subscribe & Save it’s just $13.59 shipped for two liters, which is crazy cheap for good EVOO.

I’m also kind of crushin’ on today’s Gold Box Deal, which is this adorable tabletop Cuisinart gas grill—perfect for tailgating, camping, or small spaces. It’s adorable, highly rated, and a good $45 cheaper than I can find it anywhere else. And don’t forget to check out this month’s 100 MP3 albums for just $5; this is how I stock my iPod, and now think albums that cost more than $5 are for suckers. Heh.

Today’s deals at 6pm.com are once again a cornucopia of awesome brands; the Old Gringo boots—while cute—are a bit too rich for my blood even at 50% off, but I’m all over the 75% off Simples, under $25 Nine Wests, and the under $20 women’s shoe assortment. Come to Mama.

And if you’ve got your heart set on something new at Old Navy, right now new arrivals are 30% off with code ONNEW30.

Oneida has a new crop of deals, and today and tomorrow only, the more you spend, the more you save. Use code JF5 for $5 off $50+, JF15 for $15 off $100+, and JF30 for $30 off $150+. Free shipping on $99+, too. (Did you know they carry entire cookware sets? They do!)

Headed out on the town this weekend? Don’t forget to check Restaurant.com for discount dining certificates! Through the weekend you can use coupon code SPORK, which is not only fun to say (spork! spork!!), but will take 70% off your purchase price. That means $25 dining certificates are just $3, and let’s face it, you probably found that much in the laundry this week.

I’ll have this week’s contest winner for you later today, too. TGIF, everyone!

Pssst! Have you read about Save Up ’10 and voted for Want Not so that I can learn even more ways to save you money? Every click helps!

  1. the subscribe and save – does that mean that you’ll get this same discounted price every time it is shipped – ad infinitum?

  2. I think I found the answer to my question – no. you get the subscribe & save discount off of the price of the goods at the time the goods ship .

which, from what I read on Amazon, means the next time it ships automatically I pay 25.00 less 15%. Which I guess is still a good price for olive oil.

    did I interpret this correctly?

  3. The next time it ships you get 15% off whatever the price at the time is, yes.

I regularly buy via S&S and then cancel my subscription after my order ships. There’s no obligation to take further shipments, and I don’t trust them to have a similarly good price the next time. And you can resubscribe and cancel as many times as you like.

  4. Thought so. Thanks.

  5. Just ordered the grill – perfect for my small patio and I’d been wanting a grill all summer, but had been too cheap to spring for one. Thanks Mir!

  6. Darn, the olive oil is sold out! That is the only kind we buy anymore. This is what I get for living in a later time zone. 😉

  7. Christina: The organic Zoe is still available, and also part of the Friday Sale, so it’s a bit more expensive, but still a great deal. 🙂

  8. Don’t count out the van eli brand on sale at 6pm today, either. I’ve gotten two pairs and found them to be true to size (my foot measures between two sizes, and I always get the larger of the two). I get compliments on them every time I wear them, and they’ve not shown any wear, despite the fact that I wear them frequently.

  9. Thanks Mir. I was bummed the original olive oil was out of stock then saw your comment about the organic. It’s less than $1 more so I’m giving it a try.

  10. Thanks for the tip, Mir!
