Oooh, look at this one: Right now Amazon has the Kensington Travel Battery Pack for iPhones and iPod Touches available via Buy.com for just $17 shipped. It looks like this is a clear-out of an old model—they’re showing a newer version available for a $70 pre-order—but at that price, who cares? It’s well-rated and Amazon is still selling it themselves for over twice the price.
I’m especially digging this because my after-market car charger no longer works with my new phone. Yep, the iPhone 4 comes with a bevy of new features, including the ultra-annoying “Hey, this isn’t an Apple charger, that’s not going to work, sucker,” message whenever I forget and try to plug it in. Hmph.
[Edited to add: I’m still reading reviews, but it looks as though this version may have a few glitches with the iPhone 4 (hence the new forthcoming version). Still a great deal with the earlier versions, though.]
Just FYI – although it may say on the phone that it’s incompatible, often devices like chargers still work – be sure to check that it actually isn’t charging before you toss it! 🙂
Thanks for the heads up! I’ve been looking for a charger like this for a long time. My iPod Touch is ancient in tech years, so this is just perfect!
