That may seem a tad high for the recent GPS deals, until you realize two things: First, this unit is nearly 5″ across, so it’s one of the largest displays you can buy. Second, today only, this is the price on the model that comes with lifetime map updates. (By way of comparison: If you buy the same unit without the free updates, today? It costs $50 more.)
Free map updates are Very Good Things. I don’t have ’em on mine, and I’m too cheap to pay. Which means that every time I go to Kohls, my GPS insists it’s on the other side of the road (because the road has been reconstructed and shifted since the last map update). Now, I know where Kohls is, so no big deal, but stuff like that when I’m going somewhere new is really annoying. Not that I’m bitter. Much.
I was thoroughly annoyed when I realized that I would have to pay $50 for a one time update on our GPS or something like $80 for lifetime updates. I would rather them have charged a little more in the beginning, rather than leaving me feeling like I’ve been bamboozled! I wonder if my husband would notice if I bought a new one…
