One thing I’ve discovered about having some sort of food restriction is that you always need to carry snacks, lest you be caught somewhere that you can’t find a suitable food to consume. Now that I’m gluten-free, I tend towards high-protein bars just in case I’m caught in Fast Food Land Of Buns. (Yes. That’s what everyone calls it, isn’t it?)

I’m a huge fan of Kind bars—they’re gluten- and dairy-free, and high in protein and fiber—but they’re usually pricey. Today you can get a 12-pack of Almond and Apricot Kind bars from Amazon for just $10.27 shipped when you buy via Subscribe & Save. That’s more than your run-of-the-mill granola bar, of course, but when you’re using them as a meal substitute in a pinch (as I do), that’s a pretty awesome price.

Also the company is cool/charitable, and I like it when my food is kind to small animals and stuff. What? I do!

  1. Just an FYI – but did you know that you can get a McDonald’s burger without the bun? They put it into a small bowl and include a knife and fork.

Yeah, you probably don’t want to go to mickey d’s too much, but there’s more out there that you can have than you know.

But stay away from mickey d’s french fries, they’re coated with wheat flour. Or at least, they used to be.
