Get ready to box ’em up

Every year after Christmas I vow to buy some decent ornament storage boxes, and every year I am hit once again by the reality that:
1) Ornament storage boxes are expensive
and
2) Ornament storage boxes never go on sale, even when everything else is on clearance.

(It’s a little bit like being stuck in a nightmare, perusing the $.50 rolls of wrapping paper, flanked by $40 storage boxes.)

So this certainly isn’t the greatest deal ever, but if you—like me—are realizing that your single-storage-bin-and-a-lot-of-old-towels method of storing your ornaments simply can’t hold up for another year, I have a suggestion. Target is currently offering this handy ornament storage box for $20 with free shipping. Coupon code ON6LKVO9 takes another 10% off. For $18ish shipped I’m willing to go for it, even though the item description doesn’t tell me how many slots it has (my guesstimation is 40 openings, based on the picture).

I’m calling the not-having-to-leave-the-house-ness of it the bargain. Heh.

  1. I swear, every year, the ornament box I bought a few years ago was the best money spent (after years of untangling ornaments from shoe boxes and original boxes). And even tho the red/green is a bit cheesy, it is SO nice to tell my husband “Just get the red and green boxes out of the attic”. So its one thing I’m not upset about spending money on. I am thinking its going to be time for one more red/green one…I’m telling myself this now so I’ll remember its worth the money! 🙂

  2. I bought an ornament box last year right after New Years and it was the best purchase I’ve made in a long time. I always put our ornaments back into the original boxes and have the ornament box made it so much easier to put away everything last year and take it out this year. I’m thinking about going to Target this week to see if I can get one more for whatever ornaments didn’t fit in the box that I got last year.

  3. I see where you get the 40 slot figure from, but it looks to me like there are two layers, so you might end up with 80 slots.

  4. I saw ornament storage on sale in K-Mart’s circular too — not sure if it’s cheaper than Targets or if promo codes are offered though..
