Saturday deals

Gooooood morning! Our forecast here in sunny Georgia is for the high to top out in the mid-60s, today. This almost makes up for the week we had off school during the Snowpocalypse. Almost. Let’s get to some deals before I go run outside without a coat on, like the fool I am.

This weekend at Best Buy they’re slashing prices on a bunch of televisions. The best deal to my mind is this 42″ Panasonic Viera 720p one at just $400 (don’t forget that with Best Buy, you can order online and then go pick it up at the store rather than pay for shipping). We own a Panasonic Viera and have been very happy with it. (And for those wondering if 1080p is worth the extra cost, my answer is no. What the human eye can resolve at normal TV-viewing distance means that most of us will find the difference between 1080p and 720p indistinguishable. I’d, personally, rather save the money.)

This weekend you can take an extra 30% off sale prices at Gap with coupon code GAPSALE30. Elsewhere in the Gap family: Save 25% on your order at Banana Republic with coupon code BRJAN25, and at Old Navy you can use code ONGET20 for 20% off your order.

Today at Soap.com you’ll find all Vaseline products are already 20% off, plus you can use coupon code FBVASELINE to save another 30%! (Max discount value of $10.)

Don’t forget that the end of the month means the end of some of the great grocery deals that have been running lately—get ’em before they’re gone! One of the deals about to expire is on Torani syrups, which are already on sale, plus you can use coupon code SYRUP444 for an additional 15% off, plus buy via Subscribe & Save for another 15% off and free shipping. Use these syrups to make fancy drinks, or make gifts seem even fancier; this 3-pack of peppermint syrup, for example, comes out to just about $8 on this deal, and a bottle of this along with a container of cocoa would make the perfect holiday gift, next year. (Yes, I am thinking about next year’s teacher gifts already. It’s an illness.)

And now I want a peppermint mocha. Darn it.

  1. A peppermint mocha does sound good! In lieu of having the mentioned syrup I’m off to drop an Andes mint in my coffee 🙂

  2. Bought the peppermint syrup, thanks! Am I planning to share any with teachers? Um……er…….

  3. From what I understand from those tech-ier than me, most people will not notice the difference between 720p and 1080p on televisions *under* 50″. So at 42″ on this one, save the money.
