For my fellow winos

Actually, I should change the title. It’s misleading. If you’re a wino, you drink the entire bottle of wine. If you’re like me, it takes you well over a week to finish a bottle of wine, and—more often—we open a bottle, I have one or two glasses, and then the rest of the bottle ends up skunked and I throw it out two weeks later when I find it in the fridge and go, “Oh! Wine! Oooooh, no. This doesn’t smell good.”

So I’m always meaning to buy one of these Vacu Vin Wine Saver Pumps, because they’re not terribly expensive (around $12 there from Amazon, though it’s eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion) and I hear it really does make the wine keep longer. But I’m both lazy and cheap, so I’ve never purchased one. However, today I see that Buy.com has a 12-pack of these wine savers for the same price Amazon is selling just one. Typo? Price error? I’m not sure. (Though the shipping weight seems in line with a dozen rather than just one.)

So I ordered, and I also took a screen shot (just in case I only get one), and if I get twelve, well, stocking stuffers for my favorite over-21 pals next year, plus the smug satisfaction of having paid just about $1 apiece. If I get one, I’ll have to argue with customer service. We’ll see.

  1. Interestingly if you look at Amazon, they have 2 extra stoppers for 25 cents or 4 for $8.82. Both from vacu vin.

  2. Leftover wine?? Not in my house. Anyway, already sold out!

  3. Buy some ice trays and freeze your leftover wine to use while cooking. It’s a great use for it!
