What have you gotten lately?

We haven’t had the chance to share our good finds lately, so I thought I’d share a hit and a miss for fun:

My recent miss was ordering a bathing suit during the last big Bon-Ton sale. The price was certainly right, but it arrived today and is electric pink and neon orange (sure didn’t look that way on my monitor…) as well as fitting my chest in a rather, er, unfortunate manner. (Let’s just say that if I was going for a Madonna-esque statement of… uhhh… pointedness, it would be fine.) So that’s going back to the store.

But, a lucky hit to make up for it: Today at Goodwill I found an Isaac Mizrahi taffeta couture party dress for $6. I suppose I shouldn’t wear it in the pool, but still, a nice find.

Your turn!

  1. Found some gems at Amazon lately:

    http://www.amazon.com/Newmans-Own-Organics-Wintergreen-1-76-Ounce/dp/B000LKZB4Y/ref=sr_1_3?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1370902654&sr=1-3&keywords=newman%27s+own+mints

for my 5YO (whose breath sometimes smells like dragon feet). Love that it’s organic and doesn’t have any chemicals. Plus, the little tins are so dang cute. Ordered some cinnamon ones for my next S&S shipment, which grrrrrrrrr is now screwed up (but we’ve already had this conversation here).

Also, I long to be one of those people who cook and enjoy it. But alas I am not. However, in an attempt to be a healthier vegetarian, I ordered some bulk garbanzo beans and made them. I can’t stop eating them. They are superior to every other brand I’ve previously tried. Seriously, they are amazing. I’m making a batch every other day. So. Good. Going to try some lentils next time I order. Sadly, they don’t have black beans.

  2. I was able to hit the Nordstrom Rack last weekend. One $198 pair of Eileen Fisher pants marked down to $30 in my daughter’s size, and a $168 silk top marked down to $20 for me.

  3. I got a dress for my husband’s high school reunion at Macy’s that was marked from $128 to $75. Then when I paid, it turned out it was on sale yet again so only cost $48!

  4. Your tips on Amazon subscriptions have kept me out of Target for at least one month now. That’s the best deal of the YEAR for me.

    • I’m with you! Amazon s&s keeps me out of target and cvs. Score!

  5. The sheets you linked to at Tanga a couple months ago are fantastic! Soft, no wrinkles, love!

  6. I got one of those $10 off $10+ purchase coupons for Kohls. I found two light summer sweaters in the clearance sections marked down from $30 to $9. Got to the register and they were marked down even more to $6 each, so with the coupon, I paid $2.10 including tax for two sweaters. I was psyched.

    • I need to go to Kohls and paw through the racks. I had two cashmere sweaters I loved and got there on sale which this winter were eaten by something. (Not moths, though my closet has cedar in it now. Something ate little holes in the front of one and the sleeve of the other, though. So sad!)

  7. Recently at Kohl’s bought my engineer-in-training son SIX very nice/easy care dress shirts for his summer internship. After 30% off coupon and Kohl’s cash paid only $82. The best part of the deal for him is that I paid for them….lol

  8. I just went by Bargain Hunt, a local overstock store. I got $130 worth of super yard play yards for $30, a $160 Plan dollhouse for $46, a $60 Melissa & Doug castle (needs some glue) for $7, and 2 different Lego Star Wars zipbins for $2 each. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Made my day!!

  9. Cashmere sweaters at Goodwill. Love the $5 I spent on one watermelon-colored one!

I bought shoes on Zulily that I researched carefully in terms of size and fit…. they came last week and are a full size too large. Wish Zulily would put reviews on their products!
