Today marks not just a new month, but the release of two new Minecraft-themed LEGO sets. Remember last year’s release and how in no time at all you could only get the Minecraft set on eBay for a gajillion dollars? Plan ahead this year!
Right now Amazon has the The Nether set for the regular MSRP of $34.99 (guess what my kiddo’s getting for Christmas…), though they’re currently out of stock on The Village (I’ll keep checking back, though).
Alternatively, LEGO has both The Village and The Nether in stock, but you’ll have to pay for shipping unless you get your order up to $75+. [Edited to add: Alert and pretty Want Not reader Karen points out that both sets from the LEGO store total $70, and with a small item to reach the $75 free shipping point, you also get a free mini VW bus set with that $75+ purchase.]

I kind of feel as if I could aaaaalmost put these sets together with LEGOs already in my possession, but I know that I am going to have to shell out $70 for them for my kids.
Listen, I made my peace with this when the first set came out. Let’s be honest: We’re paying $35 for wee minifigs. Because of course we could build the worlds with the zillion pieces of LEGO we already have, but now we have Steve! And a zombie pigman!

I’ve been checking Amazon all day. Bought the Nether for $35. The Village is finally in stock but its listed at more than $90 with tax and shipping!!! Guess I’ll be skipping The Village or may break down and just go for it at the Lego shop and pay the shipping there. Crazy! Thanks for the heads up!
Bought both from the Lego site (with some mini-figs to get up to $75). My two LEGO nerds will be thrilled at Christmas. It’s the only gift I will pay full price for. Last year I bought the set for my son and got endless grief from my daughter for not getting her one. Glad there are two different sets now. One for each. Thanks for the tip!
Available at the lego site and to get to your free shipping at $75 you can always go to pick a brick and buy a few trees. We always need more trees.
