I got up way too early for you. Please pass the coffee.

So: I can already see that the Amazon Lightning Deals are going to be epic today. Over the last week they’ve featured a number of good deals, and some so-so deals, but today the discounts are steeper and the offerings way more plentiful. Keep an eye on those, for sure.

Not to be outdone, of course there’s a Woot-Off happening—Woot, Home.Woot, Tools.Woot, Kids.Woot, Shirt.Woot, and Sellout.Woot will be burning through a variety of deals all day long.

These are the two windows I’ll have open all day. As for the other goodies… stay tuned. It’s going to be a full day.

  1. You are up way too early. After spending a delightful T-day with my daughter & family, it came to my attention that a good set of pots and pans might be a good gift for them. Because who doesn’t like to unwrap a reminder of more work, right?

Thanks for all you do for us, your adoring masses. Did that sound right? At least the gratitude is real, for whatever errs may occur in semantics.

    • And this is why I do it. Y’all are the best! If you tell me more about what you’re looking for I can help you hunt for something specific. 😀

      • Well, I have another need, but I am clueless as to what exactly fulfills that need. I have an old-fashioned (surprise!) flip phone. Absolutely nothing smart about it. And as I live in one of those dead areas, and mostly use my phone at home, I’m dragging my feet about upgrading and paying a data plan when said data is only available about 1/2 the time. (I encouraged the cell phone company to give me the half-rate fee, to match the half-a@# service, but so far, nada results.) At any rate, on those rare moments when I do venture into town, I need a hands free way to utilize my phone. To make matters more exciting, the radio in my truck only works sporadically – which is to say usually only if I have someone along to visit with I notice it working. Driving across the miles by myself? Not so much. So . . . your long-winded friend needs to know what gadgetry exists that might fulfill both of these needs without breaking the bank? I tried the old style transistor radio but it needed its antenna to be realigned with each curve in the road. Does my life sound too exciting for you? Because it really is.

        • Ha! Well, a couple of thoughts:

          1) Depending on your carrier, they may have an in-home signal booster available to you (and you might be able to get it for free if you can prove your coverage is lousy at home). The AT&T one is called an M-Cell, and we have one (because without it, we have no reception at our house). It strengthens the cell signal by piggybacking it through your home Internet. If your router’s on, your signal is waayyyyyy better. Might be worth asking about.

          2) Hands-free systems that don’t really go through the radio do exist, but I find them to be universally crappy. You might be better off upgrading your phone (sorry!) to one you can give voice commands to and that has a good speaker. (Not the answer you want, I know….)

          • Thanks for all the information – really, I am grateful. The world is moving too fast for me, and I think I may just let it go. The two towns closest to me – and by close I mean 45 mins and an hour, have both gone to hands free only within the city limits, and really that’s ok with me. I can always pull into a parking lot and be THAT old lady. As for being without a radio, I can still belt ’em out with the best of them. Well, maybe not the best, but you know what I mean. I am quite capable of self-entertainment in my old farm truck, and who knows? Perhaps I am providing entertainment for those who see/hear me. The world needs to laugh more, in my opinion. And when the madness clears, I may check into the signal booster thingy. I live a mile from a tower, but as I am still using 3G, and there are not enough towers in the area, I get bumped a lot. No, I don’t understand it, or even know whether to believe it, but that was the explanation I was given.

  2. I can’t embed another reply, Sue, but I just wanted to say that I hope you never change. Being THAT old lady is awesome. 🙂

  3. Thanks for being so pretty! Even before coffee!

  4. You rock, Mir – thank you for getting up at 5 to hunt for us! 🙂

  5. You rock pretty Mir!

I am looking for a vitamix… If you see something affordable, will you please post it?

    Thank you

    • Ugh, WordPress is being buggy today and I just got this comment in my email. Sorry to keep you waiting, Shweta! If you’re still looking, there are several certified refurbs at Target, if you’re okay with one that isn’t brand new. Best savings, anyway.

  6. Hey Mir, you know of any good deals on socks? My pre-teen, teenage nieces and nephews are all obsessed with socks. And all want some for Christmas. There are seven of them so that’s a lot of socks. I could really use a good deal on them.

    • Krystal, I got some great socks from Target this year (free shipping on everything, lots of stuff on sale), and I also love everything from LittleMissMatched (for the girls, notsomuch for the boys).

  7. We are looking for a cheap twin mattress to replace the 30+ year old one poor DD is still using. yuck

  8. My 7YO is asking Santa for an Xbox so he can play Minecraft. He’s also interested in the new Trap Team Skylanders. He didn’t buy my explanation that elves aren’t good with electronics, lol.

Thanks for all your help. I can’t imagine getting up at 5 to hunt for deals. You must be superwoman.

    • Nah, supercheapskatewoman, maybe. 😉
