On the one hand, I try really hard not to buy treats that contain HFCS. I do a lot of my own baking, and will take regular sugar over that stuff any day of the week.
On the other hand, I’m only human. And having some easy-to-grab snacks in the pantry is always useful.
And on the third hand (I bet you didn’t know I had a third hand), a good deal on a treat my kids love can be hard to pass up.
Right now Amazon has a 6-pack case of 16-count rice krispie bars (that’s 96 bars) for $28, which isn’t a bad price, but it’s certainly nothing to write home about. But! If you’re eligible for Amazon coupons, there’s a 25% off coupon to clip on the page, plus you can get an extra 5% off and free shipping when you buy via Subscribe & Save, making the total to your door just $19.67, or a mere $.20/bar.
I know it’s junk food. I’m just saying it’s delicious, cheap junk food.
Thank you!!! Our schools have a very strict nut free policy and these are an easy treat to add to lunches. Of course, my biggest kid (the 45 year old) tends to grab a couple (or 5 or 6) and I find the wrappers in his office. Oh, well, at this price, I guess I won’t have to hide them from him.
Thank you Mir! Now I have my team snacks for all 3 kid’s sports for the fall. No need to panic when my kids say, Mom! It’s my day to bring team snacks! Now if only I can hide them until then…
My definition of junk food is something that doesn’t contain anything you couldn’t eat in a meal. Rice Krispies are breakfast food, so the treats aren’t junk food at my house. Well, I know it’s a stretch.
