It’s coming in to my favorite time of the year, folks. But you knew that.
The Countdown to Black Friday Lightning Deals have already begun at Amazon—though I suspect things won’t really get going for a couple more weeks—and I’m busy plotting out what gifts we have left to buy. Typically by about now, I’m done shopping for the major stuff. What I’m still working on is little gifts for the stockings.
There are two schools of thought about stockings: One says, just fill it with silly stuff. The other says, be awesome and get cool little things people actually want/need. (I bet you can’t guess which approach I favor….) Stuffing stockings for the kids is easy, and I like to get “girly stuff” for the ladies, but I always have a hard time shopping for the guys. I believe there are 2 types of Amazon Prime joy:
1) Making them ship you something that cost almost nothing,
and
2) Making them ship you something heavy that probably cost more to ship than than what you paid for the item itself.

what’s the best way to stay on top of the lightning deals besides constantly checking the site? is there an email alert?
Not that I’m aware of, Stephanie. I pretty much just keep checking, myself. They’re all listed in the morning (though some have actual product links and some are more vague) so I tend to set a desktop alarm if there’s something I think I’ll be interested in later in the day.

Unrelated but it’s also Christmas Card and Personalized calendar time! Shutterfly is always having a sale but I have a hard time determining if the current is the best one.
