I have to tell you, I think these are pretty ugly, though they’re the least offensive style of Crocs that I’ve seen. But, see, the thing is? If you simply must have those ugly shoes? You should have them for less.
Make the most of the deal: Have Zappos price match, if you want a color they offer (they will only match on exact style/color/size). And then you have free shipping and hassle-free return/exchange when you come to your senses and realize that grown-ups should not be wearing plastic shoes.
[Edited to add: Zappos’ price match procedure is very easy. The Crocs will be $25.94 shipped from them (they do add in the competitor’s shipping cost), and we are not going to talk about how I know that. Let’s focus on the free return angle, and call it a social experiment.]
I think I’m one of the few in my town who haven’t (hasn’t?…ugh coffee brewing now) jumped on the Crocs bandwagon. Those not so ugly ones are cute, me thinks!
I love this new site, by the way. I just blogged about it!
Once you wear a pair, you will understand.
I wear mine everywhere.
I am going to buy the girls pink and purple ones for the Fall to go with their new uniforms. I figure that will give the uniforms a little personality.
They remind me of jelly sandals, only thicker. And in Ontario summer heat, no thanks. No one needs to smell that. Good deal though, if you dig them. I suppose they would be good for gardening – just hose them off after. My Granny might benefit from them – are they supportive, I wonder? You know, reassuring her that her pansies look much bigger than Mrs. Sloans pansies? That kind of thing?
Need more coffee.
These are the most comfortable shoes EVER! I bought some orange ones that were supposed to be my “walking the kids to the bus stop” shoes, and I wear them everywhere. Did I mention they are orange? Had I known they would be my “everywhere” shoes, I would have chosen a less loud color!
Karen
They aren’t sweaty like Jellies were.
And yes they are great for gardening.
I also wear socks with them at times.
They have a generic version at Target for $9 if you want to test them out.
“plus shoes even float!”
That would come in handy if say, you were walking beside a body of water and fell in…no worries, just stick your feet up and float til help arrives!
I work in a hospital and the Crocs have taken over. Thankfully, my feet have not become victims. I’m with Jamie and Karen….need COFFEE!
I’m tempted to buy the kids these, I’m kinda over flip flops for the girls.
Let me second the “yes, they’re ugly, but BOY are they comfortable!” I got a (bright pink) pair the day before I moved, wore them on moving day for 14 hours of hauling stuff around, and my feet did not hurt at the end of it all. In fact, my feet were the ONLY part of my body that didn’t hurt at the end of that day. I never wear socks with them and haven’t had any sweaty-feet problems.
That is a great tip about Zappos price matching. Not that I would use it to buy the ugliest shoes in the world. Although now I’m thinking about getting them for Girlkiddo.
Great blog!
Just thought I’d say that I just bought a pair. I didn’t intend to, but after reading a bunch of the comments about how comfortable and great they are, I couldn’t stop myself. I love internet impluse shopping. I bought them off the REI site and chose the store pickup shipping option, so I didn’t pay shipping. (Luckily, there’s one not too far away.)
Love the new blog, keep up the good work. Full price is for suckers!
Hopefully they’re not as lethal in grocery stores as are regular flip-flops. Trust me on this. I do transcription work for insurance companies, and in a good 99% of the slip and falls in grocery stores, the ladies were wearing flip-flops.
Just thought I’d mention that 🙂
They do not slip.
The rubbery substance keeps them from slipping.
And yes! They float too. My son wears them out on the jet ski instead of his $40 Rainbow Flip Flops that would sink to the bottom.
I can’t say enough about them.
And they have a strappy thing that can go behind the heel so this makes them acceptable to our school dress code.
Yesterday I was in CVS and they had the knock-off (but still squishy) ones at a knock-off-$9.99. Go CVS!
Mir, you know I adore you – but you are Wrong Wrong Wrong about the Crocs.
See, they’re closed cell and anti-microbial – so they will not fall victim to rotting summer sandal syndrome, nor will they give you sweaty feet. They can (as others have already mentioned) be hosed off in a jiffy. And they are – bar none – the most comfortable shoes ever.
And they have a flipflop version that’s much more comfortable and supportive than the thin paper ones you can pick up at Wal-Mart.
PLUS – thanks to the Crocs rage, some of the vendors who used to carry them are scaling back since ‘everyone else is carrying them as well’ – so I got the flipflops I’m wearing right now on mega-sale, and didn’t even have to settle for the bright orange ones.
My daughter is currently living in her closed toe crocs (the ones with the holes) – and they’re summer camp approved (unlike flip flops.) She was even able to wade in the water (up to her knees) without need for water shoes when they went on a lake excursion last Friday.
Sure, they may not be the most stylish thing on the planet. But I’ll take comfort and non-rotti-ness any day over style, heh.
Betsy is on the money. I haven’t bought a pair yet, but I definitely will after hearing all the good stuff from friends who’ve bought them.
DON’T BUY THE KNOCK-OFFS! They’re cheaper for several reasons: They aren’t as soft, they’re not anti-microbial, they will rot, and they will get hard.
Get the real thing, and, like Mir, don’t pay full price!
I haven’t bought myself any crocs yet, but I have heard nothing but wonderful things about them. Do I think they are ugly? yes! But who cares if they are comfy!
I bought my 2 year old daughter a pair of pink aqua ducks (a croc knock-off) for $10 and she absolutely LOVES them. She wants to wear them everywhere and always gets comments on how cute they are. I think I might go get me a pair today!
Great site MIR! Keep up the good work!
I have both the Niles pictured above and some regular Caymans (the clogs with the holes). I love LOVE love them. They are so comfy. I get some rubbing when I wear them without socks, so I prefer the Caymans with socks but still very comfy.
