Resolved: Eat better in 2009

We are home, and I may even get out of my pajamas sometime today. But I’m not making any promises.

I’m not much for resolutions, but I was poking around this morning looking for some motivation on further improving my family’s eating habits. I came across this series of books called Eat This Not That! that has me intrigued: There’s the Supermarket Survival Guide, the Thousands of Simple Food Swaps version (which looks like it deals with a lot of restaurant options), and the Eat This Not That! for Kids! version.

Who knew a Big Mac was healthier than a Whopper? I’m fascinated by this, truly.

Also I am excited by any “diet guide” that still allows me to have fast food once in a while. Hey, I’m only human.

  1. We have the For Kids version. It’s very great info.

  2. I love the “Eat This, Not That” books…I have the one for adults and the one for children and I keep them in the car–so much wonderful information I can’t remember it all so when we are out and about I can consult with the book before heading into the restaurant (or the drive thru)

Usually I refer to myself with this saying, and I must say I like finding similarities between you and me.

You are easily entertained. You’re welcome.

  4. We have the kids and family versions, and I think they are so helpful that I got my University to purchase the regular version for a group of freshmen that I work with. I love Krista’s idea about keeping the books in the car because, while they help a little bit with grocery planning, I do think they are most helpful when you are looking at fast food options. I have the new supermarket version in my Amazon shopping cart but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. If you aren’t ready to buy, the web site has a lot of great info on it, too:

  5. These books are so visual, so that if you don’t feel like READING a lot of blah, blah, blah about WHY you should or should not eat something – you can just look at the pictures & you’re REMINDED. It’s like tying a string around your finger, only better.
