Did someone say green sneakers?

I think I may have mentioned here a time (or twelve) that my least favorite thing about this particular stage of manchild-development is that it’s nearly impossible to find my son shoes that fit. (He’s currently in a men’s 6.5, and most kids’ shoes stop at 6 and most men’s shoes start at 8. Oh, do you wear anything from a 6.5-7.5? Too bad!)

Couple this with his complete refusal to even think about what he might like to wear—but whatever you just got, eh, he doesn’t like those—and shoes have been a challenge, lately, because you know I’m not paying full price just because he wears a hard-to-find size. He mentioned wanting green sneakers and I took it on as my mission.

Well. Success! I found these K-Swiss Clean Laguna sneakers at Amazon in a variety of fun colors, but most importantly: 1) they had green, and 2) green was marked down to just $15. They arrived yesterday and he loves them (hooray!).

You’ll have to scroll through the colors and sizes to figure out which ones are on sale, and note that this is considered a “unisex” shoe, so the sizes are men’s, but run down small enough for most women (and even big kids), too. This is a fairly narrow shoe, too, so if your guy has Fred Flintstone feet, this is not the right sneaker. But if you have a wiry teen boy with skinny feet or want them for a kid or a female (no hate mail about how some women have wide feet, please; you know what I mean) it’s worth checking to see if the color/size combo you want is marked down. I never would’ve paid $50 for these, but for $15 I’m very pleased.

Something to read while you wait

Oh, hey, what’ve you been up to? Cool. Me? Oh, you know. The usual. Plus somehow re-injuring the same stupid hand I had a plate screwed into last year. As one does. So… yeah. Typing kind of slowly.

While you wait for me to get fixed up, here, why not load up your kid’s Kindle with 40 great books at a dollar apiece, just so that they can stay busy? I mean, not that they’re waiting on me, but who can say no to books? Especially when it’s a deal brought to you by an incredible klutz such as myself?

Wait, don’t answer that. And could you get me another ice pack on your way out…?

LEGO Minecraft sets all back in stock!

Did you miss them the other day? Snap ’em up quick—Amazon has the original set, the Nether set, and the Village set all in stock right now!

$35 each until the resellers get their hands on them, so buy now lest you find yourself sad and desperate come the holidays.

My son owns a veritable museum collection of LEGO and the Minecraft set he got for Christmas last year is by far his favorite thing. If your kids love Minecraft, you will want these sets even if you (like me) can’t believe you’re spending $35 on tiny bricks.

School supplies, because you plan ahead

Sure, everyone is back to school by now (right?), and you’ve already outfitted your little darlings with everything they need. But maybe you’re ready to plan ahead for next year, or you’re starting to gather up items for charity donations or do do your Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes in a couple of months. Or maybe you’re a teacher and you always need more supplies for your classroom.

Definitely scope out the leftovers at your local stores, but if you want some online deals, here’s a few things at Amazon currently priced as low as they’ve ever gone:
Crayola 10ct Classic Broad Line Markers for $.97
Crayola 10ct Classic Fine Line Markers for $.97
Expo Low Odor Chisel Tip Dry Erase Markers for $2.50
Sharpie Permanent Marker Fine Tip 8 Pack for $3.97
Westcott Soft Handle Kids Scissors with Microban Protection, 12-Pack for $8.46

I love that the scissors have Microban. Like kids aren’t routinely putting their fingers in their noses and touching everything. It’s a nice thought, though.

Chew on this Sophie deal

The most popular teething toy I see with babies these days is Sophie the Giraffe, the French toy that’s apparently filled with the equivalent of baby catnip. (Kidding! It isn’t filled with anything. But kids to love to gnaw on her.) The regular price for Sophie is around $18, with anything in the $13-$15 range being a pretty good deal.

If you don’t care about the box it comes in, right now Amazon has open box Sophies available for $10.91 (Prime and Super Saver Shipping eligible), which means you get a deal on a new Sophie because who cares if the box is open? It’s not a good idea for a gift, I guess, but if it’s for your own baby, this is a great way to save on a popular item.

And you know, back in my day, we just gave our kids old washcloths to chew on, and they liked it. Now get off my lawn.

Make sure your labor is well-supported

Thanks to alert reader Sheryl for pointing out that Maidenform is offering 30% off everything and free shipping, today. People fought for decent wages in this country, but I assume they also felt you should have excellent bosom support, as well. I mean, right?

(I’m aware that I should be on the lookout for lightning bolts, thanks.)

Labor Day deals at Bon-Ton

If it’s a holiday, it must be a good time to stack up the savings over at Bon-Ton! They’ve got markdowns throughout the store, plus you can stack coupon code AUGLABORD13 for an extra 25% off sale prices with code FREESHIP for free shipping on any order.

Oooh, I just discovered they have extra-long ties on Buy 1, Get 1. My tall husband is going to have an excellent Labor Day.

Happy September, Minecraft fans!

Today marks not just a new month, but the release of two new Minecraft-themed LEGO sets. Remember last year’s release and how in no time at all you could only get the Minecraft set on eBay for a gajillion dollars? Plan ahead this year!

Right now Amazon has the The Nether set for the regular MSRP of $34.99 (guess what my kiddo’s getting for Christmas…), though they’re currently out of stock on The Village (I’ll keep checking back, though).

Alternatively, LEGO has both The Village and The Nether in stock, but you’ll have to pay for shipping unless you get your order up to $75+. [Edited to add: Alert and pretty Want Not reader Karen points out that both sets from the LEGO store total $70, and with a small item to reach the $75 free shipping point, you also get a free mini VW bus set with that $75+ purchase.]

Go get ’em!

It’s the little things like breakfast cereal…

… that I like to use to fill up my monthly Subscribe & Save orders so that I get the maximum discount on all of my Amazon items. I’m just calculating, like that.

Usually I go for cereal bundles—4 boxes of my son’s favorite, or a case of Raisin Bran—but with a deal this good, I’ll bite: Right now Amazon has this Barbara’s Organic Cinnamon Crunch Snackimals Cereal available for $3.74, which is of course criminal for a single box of cereal. Sure, it’s organic! Non-GMO! Wheat and dairy free! But still. I’m not paying almost $4 for cereal.

But look, there’s a $1.50 coupon in the middle of the page you can clip, plus you can add it to your Subscribe & Save items (where you’ll save another 20% if you’re part of Amazon Mom and have 5+ S&S items this month). That means I just got my fancy-schmancy organic cereal for $1.50 delivered, which is less than I’d pay for a box of generic Froot Loops at the store. I’ll call that a worthy deal.

Get your Tevas now

It may be getting close to time to put your sandals away (not here, but maybe where you live), but now’s the time to get your sandals for next year on the cheap.

Shop directly at Teva to get your favorites at a discount during their Labor Day event. Note: In many cases, only certain colors are on sale, so click around to find the best deals.

In addition to their discounts, shipping is free, or use coupon code 2DAYSHIP for free 2-day shipping. Plus you can use coupon code TRAIL15 for an additional 15% off.

Oh hey, I just noticed you don’t even have to stick to sandals—they’ve got plenty of Fall-ready trail shoes marked down, too. Sweet.
