Half off to finish out your weekend

Love Soft Clothing? You have until tomorrow to shop ’til you drop and save 50% on your purchase—just apply coupon code springcleaning to reap the savings.

These are adorable clothes for all kids, but for those with sensory issues, they’re absolutely perfect—soft cotton, no itchy bits or pokey seams, and every fashionable piece is as comfortable as pajamas.

Just make sure you hurry, because these savings are over when the weekend ends.

Card-giving for the lazy (and cheap)

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, you know. And Easter. And maybe Great-Aunt Myrtle’s birthday, too. There’s always something, is the point. And are you really going to make it to the card store, do your shopping without hyperventilating over the cost (maybe that’s just me…), and then go home, write on the cards, find your stamps, and remember to mail them?

If you said “yes” then you’re clearly a more organized and better person than I am.

Alternatively, right now you could hop on over to Cardstore.com and use coupon code CCE3301 to get personalized cards for just $.99 each. You can add your own picture, text, even sign it, all online. And then you can have them send it for you, too. Even after you pay for shipping, you’re still at under $3 for the whole shebang, which—let’s face it—is cheaper than the cards at the big box store, and that’s before you figure in time and gas and stamps and just having the organization to make it all happen.

Plus, this way you look fancy. And organized. Win/win!

If you need some Nike

If you love Nike, today’s an excellent day to shop them online—right now you can save an additional 20% on clearance with coupon code FASTBREAK.

Shipping is free on your $100+ order, otherwise it starts at $8. Also, some exclusions apply, though I’ve not been able to find something that was excluded in my experimentation.

Power up your… bag

I’m kind of digging today’s Woot offering, especially if you or a nerd you love is a tech-head.

It’s a Powerbag—plug it in, charge it up, and then tote everything you need and charge your devices on the go. Pretty cool, right?

The same messenger bag is currently $85 at Amazon with 4 out of 5 stars, while the sling version (also available on Woot) is $84 at Amazon with 5 stars; today’s Woot price is just $40 for either one.

Of course, what are the odds of me remembering to plug in the bag when I can never remember to charge my phone…?

Special occasion dresses?

The ever-lovely Allison writes:

So. I need a dress for my niece’s wedding in Baltimore in August.

Where are your (or your readers’) staple stores for looking for a special event dress? I am not talking haute couture – but I would be willing to spend a few hundred dollars if I have to on the outfit. (But of course, I’d preferably like to get everything on sale….) FWIW, I think I am looking for an A-line cocktail-type dress. I have the upper body structure of an emaciated sparrow combined with less emaciated hips. A lines are my friend.

(Allison also included a picture of her delicious baby, but I am not sharing it here because it will make your heart explode. She’s a redhead, y’all. Swoon.)

So, first things first: A-lines are a very flattering cut on almost everyone, but your “emaciated sparrow” description made me both cringe and laugh. Also, for those of us with a similar body structure (pears, represent!), bear in mind that the Mad-Men-eque styles with full skirts are a great option, too.

On to the suggestions! Personally, I have scored a number of really lovely dresses from 6pm.com, but prices go up and down and the selection oftentimes isn’t great. That’s a if-you-luck-out kind of place, for sure, though the price will certainly always be right. Similarly, I’ve gotten a couple of killer pieces from Rue La La, but you have to register and check the boutiques every day and it ends up being a matter of timing.

For less aggravating shopping, Bluefly is a hotbed of designer goodies, though the prices will reflect that (even the discounts there still make for spendy shopping). I would say the next price tier down from there—but still fancy-schmancy—would be Last Call, and from there I’d probably go down to the good department stores like Dillards and Macy’s (maybe even Bon-Ton, too). The department store advantage, of course, is wide selection, frequent sales, and maybe even a local store for returns if you have trouble finding what you want.

Readers, where else would you look?

Don’t call it a Woot-Off

It’s not a Woot-Off. (Please read that in your head in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “It’s not a tumor” voice from Kindergarten Cop.) It’s not on Woot, so you’re not allowed to call it that.

In fact, they call it a “Sell Off.” I call it a 1SaleADay-Off, because that’s where it is. All day, every 30 minutes, there’s going to be a new deal in the “Family” section. There’s no telling what you’ll find, but I can promise it will be heavily discounted.

Just don’t tell the folks at Woot.

A pretty little thing (or three)…?

Today would be a good day to hop on over to Express if you were looking for a little something for your wardrobe. First of all, they’re offering an additional 50% off clearance items when you put them in your shopping bag. Second of all, the site is showing an additional $25 off $100 coupon, but if you’re not spending that much, use coupon code 1078 for $25 off $75+, instead.

You’ll have to dig to find stuff, but if they have what you want, this could be the perfect time to stock up!

Do it all with duct tape

I have always been a fan of duct tape, but ever since my son started at his current school, I’ve come to love it even more. They do crafts with duct tape there, you see, and you have never seen a prouder group of kids than those who are eager to show off all the things they recently made with this versatile wonder. (If you’re having trouble imagining the possibilities, here’s a book to check out.)

Anyway! I am currently annoyed with the Home Depot website because when you click on the “Savings Center” it goes… nowhere… but, I am currently delighted with Home Depot, because if you do a search on plaid duck tape (yes, duck, not duct) it will take you to a half-price case of the stuff with free shipping, and the sidebar will show you several other half-price options, as well.

Choose from three different printed tape deals ($10 for a case of 6 10-yard rolls), or go with the traditional silver (get 12 45-yard rolls for $30); ship it for free, and then fix whatever you need. Or make yourself a new wallet. Whatever.

She’ll jump for Justice

Okay, those of you who’ve been around a while know that I have extremely mixed feelings about Justice. On the one hand, the prices are ridiculous, and some of the clothing is not what I would consider tween-appropriate. On the other hand, some of their stuff is really adorable, and it’s pretty easy to rock it out with sales and coupons to make shopping affordable.

So with that conflict in mind, might I suggest that if you can bear to check ’em out, now would be a good time? There’s plenty of items in the clearance section, and you can use coupon code 779 through March 4th to take 40% off your entire purchase, even things already on sale. You could definitely scoop up some deals.

(Still, I was kind of relieved when my daughter outgrew them….)

Because nothing says awesome like Threadless

If you’ve been around here for any length of time at all, you know my love affair with Threadless runs deep. Their shirts compose a large segment of my kids’ wardrobes, and I occasionally get something for myself, too. Love ’em.

Right now they’re offering free shipping on orders of $25+ with coupon code SHIPSHIPHOORAY. While they’re not having a “hey, just about everything is $10!” sale at the moment, if you go into the sale section, there are plenty of $10 and $12 options to be had.

If you are new to Threadless, please do check the size charts before ordering. I think most of their shirts run small, and would recommend going up a size (or maybe even two), depending. The hoodies seem to run more true to size.
