Rue la outerwear

Today’s the day to hit up Rue La La for outerwear, if anyone in the family still need a nice warm coat—they’ve got options for men, women, and children at deeply discounted prices.

Sadly, I cannot justify a new coat. It’s currently around 45 degrees here, which is the coldest it’s been all season so far. We’re still in the 70s most days. It’s really messing with my plans to justify more warm-weather clothing, I can tell you that.

Santa, all I want is an iPhone 5

Thinking of upgrading your iPhone? I actually wasn’t; it’s my husband who’s chomping at the bit for a new one, and he’s had to endure me telling him it’s not worth the money at this point. But today he brought a little tear to my deal-finding eye.

Right now Best Buy is offering $50 off iPhone 5s, making the 16GB model just $149.99 with contract. Still a lot of money, obviously. And we have iPhone 4s right now, not even 4Ss, so I figured any potential trade-in would be minimal. But… then the husband went on to tell me that Gazelle would give us $145 for our old iPhones, making an upgrade a $5 no-brainer. (Gazelle couldn’t be easier to use, by the way—we’ve used them before and it’s painless—and you can lock in today’s offer for 30 days, giving you some time to complete any potential transaction.)

If you’ve been on a similar fence, just thought this might be useful information to share. Everybody’s happy—we get new phones (husband’s happy) and it costs almost nothing (I’m happy).

Third time’s the (hobbit-filled) charm

This is a deal I’ve posted twice before; in November of 2011 this set hit an all-time low of $50, and in November of this year it went down to $43.49. Now, the 15-disc Lord of the Rings Trilogy Set on Blu-ray has dropped even lower—get it at Amazon today for just $39.99. Then pat yourself on the back for not getting it in November. Congratulations! Your procrastination saved you enough to go get yourself a fancy coffee.

That, of course, is the good news. The bad news is that a lot of people who bought the original DVDs as they came out apparently feel that compiling a boxed set like this is a money-grab by The Man to swindle basement-dwelling hobbits such as themselves out of more money. To this I say: “Duh.” But thousands of people are so upset that the company producing the set is trying to make money (?), they’ve taken to Amazon in droves to give the set a 1-star review. As a result, this set only has 2.5 stars overall. But read through the reviews for yourself—the complaints are things like “But I already bought this movie and they’re making me buy it again.”

If you’re not a full-grown adult living in your mom’s basement and attending Comic Con every year, though, I don’t think you’ll have any complaints.

Batman toys for those big and little

I don’t quite know what it is about Batman; heck, my kids haven’t even seen the movies and lately my son has taken to declaring, “I’m Batman!” for comic relief. (I don’t pretend to understand him, folks.) It just seems like no matter the age, everyone agrees that Batman is pretty much the epitome of cool.

For younger kids, Amazon has the Triple Barrel Grapnel down to $5.48 (66% off) and the Dark Knight Rises Batpod Vehicle down to $9.79 (72% off).

For the older fanatics/collectors, there’s a number of 6″ scale collectable figures (I know, I know—don’t call them dolls) marked down:
Dark Knight Rises Bane Figure for $5.99 (65% off)
Legacy Harley Quinn Figure for $7.69 (52% off)
Dark Knight Rises Catwoman Figure for $9.08 (47% off)
Dark Knight Rises Batman Figure for $9.99 (41% off)
Legacy Nightwing Figure for $10 (37% off)

And a very Spidey bonus for the kids (just found this): Amazing Spider Man Web Battler 2-Pack for $9.99 (62% off) give you a scary lizard dude and Spiderman, ready to duke it out with water. Yeah, I don’t get it either. But that lizard is frightening.

Green Monday at Timberland

Whether you need a new pair of snow boots, trail shoes, a new jacket, or a gorgeous pair of Earthkeepers sandals, Timberland offers tons more than “just boots.” And today only, you can use coupon code JINGLE for an extra 40% off of everything, plus every order ships for free.

That’s on top of the fact that the sale items are an additional 20% off their marked down prices, already, in your cart. So by the time you add up all the discounts, the prices are crazy good. And that’s handy, because it’s causing me a lot of cognitive dissonance to shop for sandals at Timberland.

Free shipping on little something-somethings

Right now you can get automatic free shipping on anything in the Christmas and Gift Shop Finds over at Cost Plus World Market. This is the perfect way to pick up some stocking stuffers and not have to fight the crowds.

Alternatively, shop whatever you like and you can get free shipping on your entire $50+ order with coupon code SHIP50. But I don’t think their furniture will fit in a stocking….

Amazon, oh Amazon…

In addition to the continuing goodness in the Amazon Lightning Deals (I spy a very nice bread machine coming up in a couple of minutes!), today’s Gold Box Deal is $50 off a Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ with coupon code FIREHD89. That’s pretty sweet if you have your heart set on one of those.

I’ll be over here with my old Kindle, trying not to be jealous.

Another 24 hours of $24 deals

You didn’t think 6pm.com was going to sit out on the Green Monday fun, did you?? They’re having another day of $24 deals, one every hour, and as long as they don’t sell out you can go back and buy the earlier ones, too. Right now I see plenty of sizes left in the fifth deal, for example, which is 63% off ASICS Enduros for women.

Edited to add: It looks like you may be able to use coupon code 6PMGREEN121012YAY for an additional 10% off, too.

I may have to avert my eyes; the last two times they did this I may have, um, gone a little overboard.

Happy Green Monday from Radio Shack

Y’know, initially I was all “Green Monday, really?” and pretty much “Bah, humbug” about it all, but as the sales keep rolling in, I may be revising my stance. Call it whatever you want if that gets us more deals, retailers! You have my blessing!

Today only at Radio Shack, coupon code HOLIDAY2012 will take $30 off your $130+ order. Orders of over $50 ship for free, plus you’ll get $10 discount code via email for every $50 you spend. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that tablets and game consoles are excluded from this promotion (booooo!), as well as some other things. But if you can make it work for the items you want, it’s a nice incentive to buy today.

Second verse, same as the first (mostly)

Green Monday, Cyber Monday… I can’t keep track. But whatever the reason, they’re reprising their Cyber Monday prices today over at Discovery Channel Store, and you can use coupon code CYBERBACK to take an additional 25% off, too.

I have to tell you, if you’re a Mythbusters fan, the Buster action figure was probably my husband’s favorite birthday gift this year, and right now it’s marked down to $5.99 (70% off), plus you can use the coupon. Worth every penny!
