Apple’s Black Friday is very shiny

So listen, if you have your heart set on the latest/greatest Apple gadget, the only deals you’ll be finding at places other than the Apple Store are all things like bonus gift cards to said store (after you pay that much more, of course). To my mind, if you’re going to go for that new, shiny Apple product, you’re probably better off just going straight to the source. Plus they’ve got some markdowns (minor on new stuff, slightly better on previous-generation items) today, too.

And you can get free engraving. That’s awesome, right? (Whoever wins today’s contest will totally be thrilled that the Mini I bought has “Having it all with less — WantNot.net” on the back, I’m certain.) Anyway, just thought I’d point out that insofar as they ever mark anything down, Apple’s bringing the deals today.

Black Friday at Maidenform

Take a break from spoiling your children and maybe replace some of your ratty underwear. (Oh, now, don’t go getting all offended. What do you think I’m doing right now?) Today at Maidenform it’s all on sale, and every order ships for free. Panties are being discounted an additional 50% in your cart, plus everything else is at least 30% off (and there’s still a $15 bra sale going on).

On the other hand, if you think traumatizing your kids is funny, hey! Stocking stuffers!!

Page-A-Day Origami fun

My kids got these last year and loved them (so much so, that my son was sorely disappointed I would not let him “fold the napkins into penguins” when we were setting the table for Thanksgiving dinner, yesterday). Right now Amazon has the 2013 Page-A-Day Origami Calendar for just $6.99 (half price, and the lowest this usually goes). These make fantastic stocking stuffers.

On the other hand, do not buy this if you don’t want to find little origami creatures aaaaaaaaaaall over your house for months. Ahem.

[Y’all are watching the Lightning Deals today, right? This isn’t a Lightning Deal, but there’ve been some great deals already. Just reminding you!]

Black Friday iTunes? Why not!

Confession: I’ve always wondered if you’ve snagged a deal on a high-value iTunes card if a store would let you exchange it later for an equal value of smaller ones. (I’m seeing “no returns or refunds” on the Best Buy site, but I wonder if other stores are more flexible…?) But I’ve never tried it. Have any of you?

Today Best Buy has a $100 iTunes gift card for $80, and I am seriously considering snagging it and later breaking it up into smaller cards for stocking stuffers, birthday presents, etc. But I don’t know if it can be done. On the other hand, just about every teenager I know would be delirious with excitement to get $100 worth to spend on music and apps, so maybe the size works for some of you as is.

Free shipping, too, of course.

[Updated to add: Kudos to smartypants reader Jess for determining that you could buy the card, redeem it in your iTunes account, and then buy smaller-denomination cards (print the certificates yourself) from there.]

If you must have the Wii U, here you go

I am not a fan of “here’s the latest video console craze, no one has it stock” schtick, because it’s never a deal in the true sense, only a deal in the “I found it” sense. That said, I know some folks are dying for the Wii U, and it’s barely in stock anywhere. So! Here you go: Toys ‘R’ Us has a black Wii U bundle with Batman Arkham City and Scribblenauts Unlimited in stock for a shocking amount of money (though it’s MSRP, which means it’s cheaper than going to eBay). Thanks for the tip, Elizabeth!

If you’re feeling flush and “have” to have it, that may be a good way to go.

Have a very VeggieTales Christmas

May I just take a minute to mourn the fact that my kids have pretty much outgrown all things VeggieTales? I miss Larry Boy. (Purple and yella, he’s one super fella.) Siiiiigh.

If your kiddos are still little, though, check out the VeggieTales Store today—everything is at least 40% off! There’s tons of DVD deals on the front page there, or go get our favorite nativity set for just $17.99. Wait… okay, the current version is a little different than the one we bought years ago, but still. What’s not to love about a Baby Jesus who’s a carrot? (Oh, come on. You laughed.)

Spend $30+ and your order ships for free, automatically.

So much cuteness here! Makes me nostalgic for the days when my daughter would beg for “Junior Agaragus movies!”

Black Friday hits Sephora with $10 deals

If you love Sephora, today’s the day to clean up there—there’s a bevy of $10 deals available today only, plus an entire section of gifts that ship for free with coupon code HOLIDAYSHIP. But everything ships for free if you spend $50+, and coupon code RMNSCENT with get you a free fragrance sample bag with any purchase.

[Now: someone please tell me what to buy to 1) reduce under-eye puffiness and 2) cover dark under-eye circles. I’m, uh, asking for a friend. Stop looking at me like that.]

Need a Pokemon Black DSi bundle?

I know a lot of folks are searching for the Nintendo 3DS consoles this year, but I have to tell you… I tested one last year when they came out, and it made me nauseous. Granted, I’m not exactly the target market, but both my kids have DSs and no desire to upgrade to 3D. It’s “neat,” but not a huge value-add in terms of gaming.

Anyway, with that in mind, I was just poking around looking for some DSi deals for y’all, and look what I found: Amazon has this Pokemon Black DSi bundle for just $119.99—the cheapest I’ve seen for the console alone, and this one sports cool Pokemon designs, comes with the game, and includes a case and styluses, too. (It doesn’t hurt that this is one of my son’s favorite games, true.)

If you’ve been looking for a bundle deal on the DSi, this is it (Amazon’s lowest price ever by about $20, and $50 off the typical price). To put it in perspective: it’s the same price as the cheapest console alone (the white one) that Amazon is currently carrying. Just sayin’.

Black Friday at Dillard’s

According to the Dillard’s website, their Black Friday specials include an additional 50% off many items. I figured this would yield some 60%ish-off deals, but I’m already seeing plenty of items in the 80%-90% off range. Sizes and selection are limited, of course, but there are plenty of excellent deals to be had.

‘Scuse me, I have to go dig around in there some more….

24 $24 deals

Don’t forget to check 6pm.com every hour today—they’re launching a new $24 deal every 6o minutes, and many will sell out fast (though you can go back and look at previous deals and even buy them if they’re not sold out yet).

I noticed the site seemed to be having technical difficulties when I first got up (the sunglasses deal from 5:00 was still showing as being $70something), but it seems to all be fixed, now.
