Discover an awesome magazine
If you’ve been thinking of signing up for a subscription to Discover magazine—and if you have a young nerdling in the house, I think it’s particularly good as kind of a highly-readable summary of recent science discoveries—now’s the time to hop on over to Tanga. Today they’ve got a subscription to Discover listen at $19.99, but it dropped to just $4.99 in my cart. (If it doesn’t drop automatically when you log in, use coupon code DISCOVER to take the $15 off.)
You can get a year or two years at this price, and $5/year seems like a great deal to me on further nerdtasticness. (Why doesn’t my spell check recognize that as a word? That’s totally a word.)
BOGO’s back at Payless
Did someone say shoes? Payless certainly did, and what’s more, their Buy 1, Get the Second Half-Price sale is back on. But that’s not enough for us—since when it just a sale enough?—so go ahead and also use coupon code 79067 for an additional 20% off on top of your BOGO prices.
Shipping to your local store is always free if you want to save the money and go pick up, or pay a flat $5.95 for shipping to your home.
Now that my boychild’s feet have decided to grow about a size a week (hello, puberty!) I love this kind of sale for stocking up. Now if I could just find a similar sale on snack food….
Time to try Bluefly
If you’ve never shopped at Bluefly before, today is a great day to change that—everything on the site is on sale, plus there’s free shipping on every order, today only. And on top of that, if you visit the site via this link, as a first time customer you’ll automatically get $25 off your $100+ purchase.
Now, bear in mind that Bluefly is not a site for the cheapest of the cheap; it is a site where you can get discounted prices on expensive designer brands, though. And between the sale, free shipping, and the extra $25 off? I’d say that’s pretty much a cosmic sign pointing to “buy yourself something pretty.”
Climalite for the guys
Heads up, gentlemen: if you like Climalite compression shirts for working out, head on over to Amazon for these Adidas Techfit short sleeve shirts. You have to click around a bunch—you won’t get to see the reduced price of $12.50 until you hit one of the sale colors and choose a size—but I would say about half the colors they have in stock are currently half price.
Better still, Amazon is running an extra-20%-off promotion, so once you make your selections and go to checkout, the price on the discounted shirts drops to just $10 apiece in your cart. That’s 60% off retail!
Prime and free Super Saver Shipping eligible, too. Of course.
Who needs sleep when you have 80 cups of coffee?
I know a lot of folks truly love their Keurig coffeemakers, but then seem to spend all of their free time chasing good deals on the K-cups. So I try to remember to be on the lookout for anything that comes in under about $.40/cup.
Right now Amazon has the 80-count Fog Chaser K-cups available for $33 shipped, or just $31.35 when you purchase via Subscribe & Save (which comes out to just $.39/cup).
Ratings are overwhelmingly positive, but do note that these aren’t “regular” K-cups—the bottoms are exposed filters rather than plastic. Personally, I like that there’s less waste, but if you have a fancy-dancy K-cup holder, these will not fit in it (though they will work in your machine just fine).
Cheap shirts for the guys
I can’t see my husband wearing one of these, necessarily, but for teens or young men (or, heck, older guys who like stripes?) this is a great deal: Head on over to Soffe and click on the little red “Deal of the Day” tag on the upper right. That will show you a men’s stadium stripe polo, normally $28, for just $5.88 today only. If you click through to buy, you can choose colors and sizes.
The price will change in your cart to today’s promo price, and here’s where it gets really good. Add coupon code SHIP3E for free shipping and code LABOR3E for another 30% off. That brings each shirt to just over $4 shipped to your door. Awesome.
Not frugal, just plain smart
Here’s a quickie for you that has nothing to do with saving money, but everything to do with protecting your privacy: Check out this post on Cool Mom Tech to find out how to remove your personal information from an aggregate site called Spokeo.
I was able to find myself on there multiple times, and it only took me about five minutes to get everything removed. Scary stuff. (Yes, I know personal information in this digital age is everywhere. That doesn’t mean I have to be okay with a site showing my name, address, and a satellite picture of my house, though!)
The perfect gift…
… for your favorite crazy person. (Oh, you know, when I say “crazy” I mean “fun.”) (No I don’t.)
Anyway, I say this with love, as a crazy person, myself. Right now Amazon has the Analyze This / Analyze That Blu-ray double feature available for just $7.99. Basically at this price it’d cost you less to buy it than to rent it. Plus you get a double dose of Billy Crystal and Robert DeNiro, and if you save it to give to a crazy relative at Christmas you can laugh to yourself while you earnestly insist that they’re just really funny movies and you knew they’d enjoy ’em.
Labor Day at Bon-Ton
If you’ve had your eye on anything at Bon-Ton, today’s the day to buy—they’re offering free shipping site-wide, today only. On top of that, coupon code LABORDAY12G will give you up to an extra 20% off on most items (see the site for the exclusions list).
I needed some undershirts for my kid, but with these prices and free shipping, maybe there’s something else I need….
Happy great deals at Sephora day
Oh, was there some other holiday going on today…?
Check out the sale section at Sephora today to find items up to 60% off, including tons of adorable Tokidoki stuff, which I can assure you is pretty much like crack to teenage girls. Various shades of that hot new magnetic polish are on clearance, too. (Between the two of those I’m guessing you could buy a lot of gratitude from a fashion-conscious teen.)
Free shipping when you spend $50+, automatically, and if you spend $25+ you can add coupon code YOURGIFT for free mystery samples. Mysterious!
