A little clearance to start your week

Once you’ve passed the 4th of the July, it’s tempting to believe the month has nothing interesting to offer. Not true! Even though summer’s barely begun for many, summer clearance is underway at many of your favorite stores. (Don’t ask me to explain this. Retail is an odd business.)

Right now the July clearance is happening over at Boscov’s, and while I was immediately drawn to the 75% off shoes section (I’m predictable, what can I say?), nearly everything is on sale.

Spend $69+ and your order will ship for free, too—just the little cherry on that sundae.

Get your Kohls on

There’s a huge sale going on at Kohls this weekend, plus they’ve taken new markdowns in the clearance section. This is when I break my no-leaving-the-house rule and sometimes go paw through the racks at the actual store, but there’s plenty of deals to be found online as well.

Everyone earns $10 in Kohls Cash for every $50 spent, and everyone pays just $.99/item shipping, or receive automatic free shipping on your $75+ order. It also looks like everyone can use coupon code FFJUL20PCA for an additional 20% off!

I’m seeing odds and ends of winter gear they must’ve just dug out of their warehouses, too. If you need boots for next year, this may be the time to snag a great deal.

Target’s got your clearance shoes

I love it when the Target Daily Deals cover an entire category of items, which means today’s a good day for me. Included in today’s deals is 10% off and free shipping on all clearance shoes!

Sure, 10% isn’t that much, but they’re already on clearance, and I do so love free shipping at Target. If you need flip-flops, they’ll only run you a few bucks.

Time to stock up on shoes for my not-so-little growth-spurt-having child….

My new favorite gluten-free “spaghetti”

I may be the last person on the planet to discover this, but I’m going to tell you anyway because I’m so excited. Heh.

My garden runneth over. Specifically, my zucchini is going crazy. I’m shredding and baking and freezing, but my Zucchini Stamina was waning. And then I saw all of these recipes suggesting you cut zucchini into spaghetti-like strands, but they all required a mandoline. I do not own a mandoline, on account of I am 1) cheap and 2) clumsy, and I prefer to keep my money and my fingers.

However, I own a pretty nice “kitchen gadgets” set, and within it I found a julienne slicer (similar to this one). Zip zip zip, perfect zucchini “noodles.” Naturally gluten-free and low-carb, and all you have to do is heat them up a little before topping with your favorite sauce (I’ve been making this easy roasted tomato sauce with our tomato bounty).

In short: Yay! More uses for zucchini, and I love having another pasta alternative. Now… anyone know if I can cut it up this way and freeze it for later “noodle” use, or will it be mushy…?

Turn your Instagrams into cool stuff

There’s an Instagram boutique over at Fab.com today—get discounts on turning your Instagram photos into magnets, drink coasters, even a cool case for your computer.

This is a particularly good one if you have some credit laying around.

More tunes for you

I know how much y’all love getting free music, so run, don’t walk, over to Amazon Local today to grab a $3 MP3 credit for… free.

Once you’ve got your credit, go check out the available MP3 albums at or under $3, because you’ll be snagging one with your credit if you want something absolutely free to you.

Alternatively, use the credit towards a more expensive album you’ve been eyeing. Either way, it’s like someone just handed you three bucks.

Clearance at the Creek

I’ve long ago given up on figuring out why my local Coldwater Creek store carries only boring, ugly stuff best-suited to senior citizens with poor vision, yet the online site often has items I love. It’s a mystery I’ll never solve. But I’m okay just shopping online and not going to the store.

And right now is the perfect time to shop online, because the Outlet is offering an extra 40% off, automatically.

Coupon code HAPPY4th will give you free shipping on any size order, though it may only work if you have at least one non-clearance item in your cart. Either way, these are my kind of savings.

Shop the Revolutionary Sale

Yet another 4th of July sale worth checking out—6pm.com has nearly 1,000 shoes, clothing, accessories, and more priced at just $17.76 today and tomorrow. That means deals at up to 90% off!

I wasn’t going to shop today, but, um, it feels kind of patriotic, now….

My kiddo’s favorite cereal

When you tend not to buy sweetened cereal for your kids, they grow up thinking that Cinnamon Life is a huge treat. Heh. (Hi, my name is Mean Mommy!) It’s my son’s favorite, and right now you can get 4 boxes of Cinnamon Life at Amazon for $8.24 shipped when you buy via Subscribe & Save.

I like to snag the 4-pack when it’s this cheap and put one box in the pantry and hide the other three. Then when it’s gone and my son is sad I bring out another box and I’m a rock star all over again. And again! And again! And then we run out for real and I’m just boring old Mom again. Yeah, it’s possible I should look into a hobby or something.

Bag a Britax bonus

There was a deal like this earlier this year, and it’s back one more time for those of you who just can’t get enough of Britax. Right now when you buy 5 eligible Britax items you can receive a Boulevard 70 car seat for free. You just have to pick one item from each category and then submit your UPCs and fill out a form. It’s all part of the Britax Registry Rewards program, which is much more alliterative and nice-sounding than the Britax C’mon We’re Not THAT Expensive program.

Now, the reality is that Britax items aren’t cheap, and most folks aren’t going to pick up five items unless they’re starting to stock up for baby from scratch and/or they have a rich and generous relative. But if you’re one of those people, you stand to pick up a $300 car seat as a free bonus, and that’s awesome.
