When I grow up…
… I still want to go be a writer for Woot. Some people dream of being president, I dream of writing hilarious copy.
I was pulled in this morning because Home.Woot has an insulated grocery bag set for just $15 shipped, but then I read the description, and then I read the description out loud to my family, and it’s possible that I then read the description out loud to my dog. I mean, the bag set is a great value and a good company, but the description made my entire morning.
Hey, Woot—call me!
In case of Pirate shortage
It’s hard to imagine that you might be experiencing a shortage of video games at your house in early January (I made a funny!), but just in case the kiddies got everything except this, here you go: Amazon currently has LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean for all platforms for just $20.
Sadly, LEGO Jack Sparrow isn’t nearly as cute as real Jack Sparrow.
Woot and your home will thank you
What’s up at Woot today? Two great home deals! First, the main Woot site has a $200 refurbished Dyson DC33 vacuum, just in case you went away on vacation and came home to find that dust bunnies were taking over your house. (It’s possible that was just me.)
Second, over on Home.Woot there’s an 18-piece Pyrex food storage set, ready to help you kick the plastic habit. At $25 shipped for 9 containers/lids, that’s about $5 cheaper than I think I’ve seen that set before.
Sadly, there’s nothing available at Woot today that will put away all of the laundry you washed yesterday that’s now just sitting in baskets making you feel guilty. Though I would buy it immediately if there was.
The cupboard is bare
My least favorite part of returning from an extended vacation from home is buying groceries. We’ve spent the week or two leading up to departure trying to use everything up, and then the first trip when we get back is the basic milk/juice/bread/eggs kind of thing, and then I finally I have to face it: It’s time for me to go shopping for real. That overfull grocery cart is depressing.
I’m mitigating the pain by restocking our cereal online. (What? It’s cheaper this way, plus it doesn’t take up all that room in my cart, leaving more room for gluten-free cookies produce. Yeah, that’s it.)
Here’s three of our favorites sporting excellent prices at Amazon right now:
Kellogg’s Fiber Plus Cinnamon Oats Crunch 3-pack for $7.60 delivered when you buy via Subscribe & Save.
Kashi GoLean Crisp! Berry Crumble 4-pack for $10.61 delivered when you buy via Subscribe & Save.
Kashi GoLean Crunch! 6-pack for $15.91 delivered when you buy via Subscribe & Save.
There. I just marked something off my to-do list. Only… 99 more items to go.
Calling all teachers
Feeling down? Discouraged by the state of education in America? Why not load up your Kindle with a free version of John Pearson’s Learn Me Good, a collection of emails he sent to a friend during his first year as an elementary school teacher.
The reviews are overwhelmingly positive and I grabbed it even though I’m not a teacher. I figure at my favorite price, I couldn’t really pass it up.
Little Miss Little Miss LittleMissMatched
My daughter has earned a reputation amongst the extended family as sort of a latter-day Punky Brewster; open any present for her at a holiday gathering and odds are, there will be some socks or gloves from LittleMissMatched in there, and she’ll be squealing with delight.
Needless to say, we’re home from our trip, and she has two new pairs of fingerless gloves and about a dozen new crazy socks, so I don’t need to go shop their post-holiday “Zany Sale” happening today, but maybe you’d like to take a look. Here, I’ll make it even better than their up-to-70%-off sale prices: Use coupon code MADDIE10 for $10 off any order! Use it on smaller orders to negate the shipping and save a couple of bucks, or get your pre-coupon order total up to $40+ and the shipping will be free, and you just save the $10.
They have women’s sizes, by the way. I don’t judge.
Resolving to get fit?
If your New Year’s resolutions this year included something about getting into better shape, perhaps Jillian Michaels can provide the encouragement you need. If a single DVD is enough to get you off the couch, her 30 Day Shred DVD is very popular this time of year.
But if you need a little more than that, check out today’s Mamapedia Deal of the Day—it’s a 6-month Jillian Michaels program customized just for you, for just $39 (63% off). Kind of a neat idea, and a lot cheaper than hiring a personal trainer.
Not that you don’t look great already, of course. I mean, I’m sure I’m the only one who diligently ate my way through the holidays. Ahem.
Save and save some more at American Eagle
It’s an excellent day to hit up American Eagle and 77 Kids; all clearance items are automatically an extra 30% off in your cart, and then you can apply coupon code 69837111 for another 25% off and free shipping.
But hurry—the extra coupon code is only good through the end of today (January 2nd, 2012).
While I unpack
Today is just all kinds of disorganized for me, so here: Go get your 11:00 fix at Rue La La, Fab.com, and/or One Kings Lane.
I have to tell you, that of those three options I probably shop at One Kings Lane the least (the prices are the highest), but during their year-end blowout boutiques this past weekend I placed, ahem, several orders with them for deeply discounted items. Many of those boutiques are still running, so it’s worth checking out.
Get some irony for your new Kindle
I can’t stop laughing about this.
Did you get a new Kindle for the holidays? You know, an electronic reading device which is dependent on the Internet? Then you should absolutely download a free copy of Web Rehab: How to give up your Internet addiction without giving up the Internet for it!
I just… I, uh… ahem. Nope. Can’t do it! Can’t stop laughing.
