Shiny, shiny hair

You know how I feel about shiny hair, right? It’s right up there with a great pair of shoes. (Though I do not recommend mixing the two. Your hair should stay out of your shoes, and vice versa.)

Although I have fallen madly in love with every Bumble and Bumble product I’ve ever tried, the prices generally make me feel faint.

But today—today’s the day to treat yourself! Just visit Bumble and Bumble and buy whatever you want (hint: there’s a 2-ounce tonic lotion that’s just $7, if you’re looking for something cheap), and then apply coupon code CHEERS. The coupon will give you free shipping and add a free, full-size Texture product (normally $26) to your cart!

Fancy, pretty hair at drugstore pricing. Score.

Because the box is the best part

The first Christmas my precious baby was old enough to care about what was going on, she only wanted to play with the boxes. And as a young, new mother I thought that was really a shame.

(As an old, tired mother, I wish they still played with the boxes.)

Anyway, I know we’ve talked about some really fancy DIY cardboard playhouses here, and for me the killer is always that the shipping is super high (on top of the premium price for the item). So I’m totally digging this Discovery Kids Color Me Playhouse at Amazon for just $28 shipped. That’s a great price, and if they ever tire of it (would they?) just toss it in the recycling bin.

Alternatively, just buy yourself a nice new kitchen appliance and give the kids the box, I guess.

Fluxx this way

Been on the lookout for some great portable games for the whole family? (Maybe that’s just me. Listen, we have an 18-hour drive ahead of us this holiday season. It’s games and videos or handcuffs and tranquilizers.) (My husband says I need to pack games and videos. He is such a spoilsport!)

Right now Amazon has a bunch of Fluxx decks marked way down, and if the reviews are any indication, these card games are all kinds of fun. I’m going to pick up a couple to check ’em out. Here are the ones I found on sale:

Fluxx 4.0 for $6.99 (56% off)
Pirate Fluxx for $6.99 (56% off)
Monty Python Fluxx for $8.99 (55% off)
Zombie Fluxx for $9.99 (38% off)

Who doesn’t want some zombies or Monty Python in their stocking? Exactly.

Also, I like that St. Nick guy

I’m an absolute sucker for the St. Nick’s Picks over at Lands’ End, and not just because it gives me something else to stalk in December aside from the Amazon Lightning Deals.

Today’s picks include a variety of fleece tops and accessories, and the current coupon promotion is a whopping $40 off your $100+ purchase with coupon code FROSTY and PIN 1121. (That’ll give you free shipping on $50+, too, if you’re buying enough for free shipping but not enough for the discount.)

I’ve already shopped Lands’ End a couple of time this season, but with a discount like that… wellllll… let’s just say I’d rather you not look in my cart right now.

Clothing, we’ve got clothing deals

This is maybe not as super-sweet as the “one coupon to rule them all” deal we had a couple of weeks ago, but nonetheless, our favorite family of stores is offering various discounts, today.

At Old Navy you can take 25% off your purchase today only with coupon code ONHOLIDAY.

At Gap it’s a surprise offer—check to see what they offer you—and today they gave me 35% off with coupon code GAPGIFT, but I think you can only use the coupon they show you.

Banana Republic is offering 30% off purchases, through Thursday, with coupon code BRSAVE30.

(Apparently Piperlime and Athleta refused to play along, this time.)

Party supplies? Check!

Need a few more things for a classroom party, or some cheap stocking stuffers? It’s Oriental Trading Company to the rescue—today only, every order ships for free with coupon code FREEFW36, so you can order one thing or twenty, but won’t have to pay shipping either way.

This code will also give you a free $10 promotional code back if you spend $59+. So if you’re buying in bulk, you’ll be getting the free shipping and incentive to come back and save on your next order.

My only quibble with Oriental Trading has ever been that their shipping is steep, and that usually nullifies the savings on their merchandise. But today I can’t complain about them!

Video game mania

If you’re in the market for video game deals, there’s three ways to score at Amazon right now.

First, the Gold Box Deal today is Just Dance 3 for either the Wii or Xbox, for just $26. (This is the latest version.)

Second, there’s currently a whole slew of Buy 1, Get 1 50% off video games available, and it includes various accessories as well, so it’s worth checking out even if you don’t need games.

Finally, today’s offering in the 19 Days of Video Games deals is an offshoot of the Just Dance deal—look on the right sidebar of that page and you’ll see that today’s theme is music and dance, and there are other games you can choose from as well at up to 40% off.

If I were a nicer mother, I’m sure I’d utilize these deals to get my kids some games. But I don’t want to ruin my meanie cred.

Downsize that guitar to a ukulele

Sure, someone on your list says they want a guitar this year, but money’s tight, and besides, guitars take up a lot of room. Why not get a ukulele instead? It’s smaller, cheaper, and—let us not forget—infinitely more hipster-esque. Heh.

Today’s Stupid Deal of the Day at Musician’s Friend is a complete Mahalo ukulele outfit (uke, case, and instructional DVD) for just $59.99 shipped.

I don’t have anyone to buy it for, which is a shame, because the very thought of it completely tickles me.
