They get me every time
I keep vowing to skip looking at 6pm.com one of these days, but I can’t help it. I just have to peek. And then today they’ve got deals on both Lucky brand and Jones New York, and I’m only human, people.
Though I’ll have to shop in a little bit—excuse the silence this morning while I go watch mah baybee graduate from elementary school. Deals will resume after celebratory punch and cookies, later.
For your little tree-hugger
Looking for something to help keep the kids busy this summer? Today’s Sweet Deal at Mamapedia is your choice of National Wildlife Federation magazines for just $10 (that’s half off)—get Wild Animal Baby, My Big Backyard, or Ranger Rick. (I’m not sure the other two existed when I was a kid—you know, back in the Jurassic Era—but I loved Ranger Rick as a kid.)
While I normally advocate not spending more than a few bucks on a magazine subscription, I make an exception for places like NWF that are primarily charitable endeavors rather than just magazine producers. And perhaps best of all, none of these magazines carry any ads. I don’t know about you, but I’ll happily pay $10 for that.
Jump for joy
We don’t own a trampoline, because I am a giant meanie with two rather klutzy children, and when I look at trampolines all I see are broken bones. But it’s possible that you are both 1) nicer than me and 2) less neurotic than me, in which case, please, feel free to avail yourself of a great trampoline deal.
Why, today’s Deal of the Day at Sears is a 12′ trampoline and enclosure for just $190—that’s $160 off the regular price.
Use coupon code SEARS2011 for another $5 off (every little bit helps!), and opt for store pick-up if you don’t want to pay for shipping.
And then please tell your kids to be careful. (And, um, don’t send me hate mail if someone gets hurt. I’m sure I’m just being neurotic.)
Still Epic, now cheap again
So I was just checking the Target Daily Deals—which are decidedly video-game-themed today—and noticing that they have Disney’s Epic Mickey for the Wii for $30.
And I said to myself, “Hey Self, wasn’t this just on sale at Amazon a little while ago?” The answer is yes, it was $29. But guess what! Right now Epic Mickey is just $20 at Amazon, so if you haven’t grabbed it yet, this is the time to bite. It’s a full $10 cheaper than Target (or anywhere else) has it, and I’m guessing the lower price is specifically to thumb their nose at today’s sale.
I keep hearing amazing things about this game. At this price, I may just cave.
Swim for extra savings, maybe
I was all excited, this morning, to see that all swim items are on sale at Old Navy—up to 40% off. And then an offer popped up on top of the screen for me, there, too, for an extra 15% off. Awesome, right?
Well, kind of. It turns out that everyone gets an extra percentage off (I got 15%, but it looks like some people are getting as much as 30%; note that you can only use the code that appears on your screen, so me telling you which code to use will not work), but that coupon code turns out not to be valid on… swimwear.
That’s just mean, Old Navy. (Not quite mean enough to stop me from shopping there, however….)
Don’t forget to Get More
Hey, Discover card holders—don’t forget to sign up to Get More in June. You’ll earn 5% back on grocery and drug store purchases, on up to $200 worth of purchases.
You’re not going to get rich off of this program, but every little bit counts, right? But you have to sign up to get it, so go do it while you’re thinking about it.
Eddie Bauer is playing my tune
Remember all of those times in the past when Eddie Bauer has offered free shipping on all orders and then you’re going through checkout and you get zinged with that $3 “handling charge” and you find yourself thinking not entirely kind thoughts about your pal Eddie? Things like, “That word ‘free,’ I do not think it means what you think it means, Eddie!”?
Okay, maybe that’s just me. But that’s not the point, here.
The point, here, is that today and tomorrow (May 16/17), you can get free shipping and free handling on any Eddie Bauer order with coupon code SUNSHINE. Any size order, of absolutely anything they sell. And no handling fee!
I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I’m thinking Eddie is looking mighty pretty, right about now.
Stock up today (and save)
So, have you done that spring cleaning of your kids’ clothes yet? The one where you dig out the closet and the dresser and discover that all of their warm weather clothes appear to have magically shrunk over the winter…?
Don’t panic! If you head on over to Children’s Place today, not only do the shorts and various shirts start at $6, but you can use coupon code J9D2011 for 25% off if you spend $50+. Spending less than that? Use coupon code W7D2011 for 15% off any size order.
Either way, you’ll have those wardrobes replenished in a jiffy. And I’m sure your kids won’t grow any this summer….
Get it at Amazon, for less
Earlier this week I revealed my secrets of price-stalking deals at Amazon over at Tree.com. Y’all are such good shoppers, I doubt you’ll find it terribly earth-shattering, but come on over and take a look if you want to make sure you’re not missing out on the best ways to find those deals.
Insert ominous music here
Happy Friday the 13th! May this day bring you… ummm… many black cats. Friendly ones!
Let’s see if you can counteract any possible ill effects of the day with some great bargains….
Over in the Amazon Friday Sale, our regular parade of coffee and tea is interrupted by an actual deal on my favorite all-natural squeeze applesauces. Get 48 pouches of apple strawberry or regular apple for $25.50 shipped when you buy via Subscribe & Save. It’s true that my kids are really too old for this stuff, but they love it. And it means I don’t have to pack them a spoon in their lunches.
Should you have a Joss Whedon fan in your midst, don’t miss today’s Gold Box Deal—it’s the complete Firefly series on Blu-ray for just $23.49. And don’t forget to check out this month’s crop of MP3 albums for just $5 each (1500 of them this month!), if you haven’t already.
If you’re looking for a deal towards being greener (see, I listen when you talk!), check out this $40 Groupon to Eco Home Store for just $20. Could be a nice way to pick up a few items you’ve been thinking about.
I’m loving today’s deal at Kids.Woot—$5.99 for a Dunecraft Grow Your Own Garden Kit. Buy a few to offset the shipping (they’d be great gifts!), and let your kiddo cultivate his own garden.
See, Friday the 13th is nothing to be scared of. It’s just a regular day! And now I’m going to go on a trip to the art museum with 80 5th graders. I’m sure nothing could possibly go wrong.
