One-day savings (thanks, presidents!)

I realize this may not be a big enough discount to appeal to anyone here, but just in case it is: Today (President’s Day, February 15th, 2010) you can shop Banana Republic and take 25% off any regularly-priced items with coupon code PRESDAY25.

In addition, if your order comes to $150+, you can stack code BRSHIP150 for free shipping, too.

I generally don’t feel like I can afford to shop there until we’re in the 75% off range, but who knows. Maybe you’ve had your eye on something in the new Spring line and have a bit of money to burn. They do have some awfully pretty things, even if their very name always makes me think “Urban Sombrero.” (If you don’t understand that reference, don’t even tell me. I already feel old.)

Party (and view) like it’s 1988 and 2010

Still have a bunch of VHS tapes hanging around that you’re not ready to get rid of? I can’t really imagine why you wouldn’t go ahead and convert them to DVD, but let’s say you’re not willing to able to do that. Or that you have a parent or grandparent who refuses to get a disc player because they’re attached to their VCR. No problem—today in the Amazon Gold Box you’ll find a Panasonic Blu-ray/VHS combo player, so that you can enjoy the latest technology and your favorite Luddite can still watch VHS tapes.

It’s the best of both worlds! Or at least a compromise you can live with.

Saturday deals

Sorry for the delay this morning, but we were buried under a veritable avalanche of snow! We were fighting for our liiiiiives!

Oh, wait. We got three inches. Well, you know, here in the south that’s pretty much the same thing. Ahem.

Anyway, let’s get our deals on, shall we?

Amazon is having a President’s Day Sale on clothing this weekend—take an extra $10 off $50 or $25 off $100 when you shop qualifying items.

If it’s Eddie Bauer Clearance that makes your heart sing, today’s your day. Their winter clearance event is in full swing, with huge savings on plenty of items that are only “out of season” in the retail sense, not the hey-there’s-snow-on-the-ground sense.

I don’t know about you, but I always feel fancier after I shop the Macy’s specials, and during a big sale (like they’re currently having for President’s Day) I find they’re about as affordable as anything else.

Need some new shoes to go with your new duds? (I just typed that as “new dude” and that is an entirely different conversation….) The weekend deals at 6pm.com include huge discounts on Steve Madden, Rockport, Fitzwell, and more. Or cruise around at Shoes.com and take 15% off anything with code CUPID, or an additional 25% off already-reduced sale and clearance items with code 25SALE. Finally—of all the crazy things—the Target Daily Deals have some Anne Klein loafers available for just $15 ($13.50 with 10% off code URTYJLI8). I’m not sure how that happened, but go with it.

Been meaning to print photos for, well, forever? This weekend is the perfect time to do it—right now you can get 150 prints for $15 at Kodak Gallery (and every print thereafter is just a dime, too), no coupon needed.

I’ll be back later with the winner of this week’s contest, and a new chance to win this weekend. Don’t go away!

Friday, it’s a snowmergency!

I have to write this very quickly, because my town is predicted to receive an entire inch or two of snow in a few hours. I have to run to the store and buy all the toilet paper and milk and bread they have. (I love the south. Truly.)

With that in mind, I guess it’s kind of good that the Amazon Friday Sale is in its newly-shrunken form, with fewer offerings. This should take no time at all.

Thinking of taking up home haircuts? Check out this Wahl Lithium Ion All in One Trimmer for $28. I have a corded trimmer and often wish for a cordless one, and Wahl is pretty much the gold standard.

If your kids like these Clif Twisted Fruit Ropes, today’s your lucky day—the variety pack of 24 is just $11 if you buy via Subscribe & Save. (These are certified organic, by the way.)

This roaster not only makes me long for Thanksgiving (mmmm… turkey!), but it’s down to just $27 and it’s eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion! (No, I don’t think anyone wants to buy four roasters. But you can mix and match eligible items.)

Are you a serious home canner? Check out this 9.5-quart Stainless Steel monstrosity, on sale for just $60 and ready for canning, juicing, whatever.

Today’s Gold Box Deal is a Milwaukee Sawzall for $105, which I would totally get my husband for Valentine’s Day if it didn’t, you know, kind of send the wrong message.

Don’t forget to check out the 100 MP3 albums for just $5 each, too. Friday’s always a good time to get your tunes on.

Elsewhere: Today’s Target Daily Deals include a handy Energizer iPod charger for under $10, as well as a variety of cute things to wear. (Don’t forget code URTYJLI8 for an extra 10% off!)

And over at 6pm.com they’ve got deals on Polliwalks, Clarks, Roxy, Naughty Monkey, and more.

I’m off to stock the bunker. Er, I mean, to buy milk. Or something.

Regular savings, and secret savings

Pssssst! In addition to today’s regular daily deals at 6pm.com—which include the likes of Taryn Rose and Donald J. Pliner—if you do a search on Lumiani you’ll find that all multiple pages of Lumiani shoes are under $10 today, for some reason.

Unadvertised special? Site was hacked? Alien interference? I don’t know and I don’t care. Pages of cheapalicious shoes at 90%+ off and I don’t ask questions, I just shop.

Let’s call it artsy

I am married to a photographer. He makes beautiful pictures.

I sometimes take blurry pictures… even on autofocus. Ahem.

I’m not saying that’s the only reason to love a Lensbaby… heck, even people who can, you know, actually make nice pictures enjoy playing with the effects it renders. I’m just saying that for someone who never before felt like artsy pictures were possible, it’s a big help.

Now I use our Lensbaby all the time. And when it’s blurry? I’m all, “I totally meant to do that. Yes.”

It’s worth the regular retail price, but right now Amazon has the Nikon F Mount or Canon EF Mount versions for just $70 shipped (over half off). It’s a fun lens to have.

Beret and snooty French accent not included.

It’s modest, really

Now that I’ve succumbed to the whole HDTV thing, I wonder how I ever watched television on that tiny little sad excuse for a television we had, before. Usually I wonder this while my servants are peeling grapes for me and fanning me with giant palm leaves.

But not everyone wants a great big TV, and I understand that. Maybe your space is small. Maybe you don’t like grapes. Whatever. But you can still have HDTV quality in a smaller set, like with today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal where they have a 32″ Panasonic VIERA LCD HDTV for just $380 shipped. It’s your way to get great a great HD picture without giving over the whole room to a monster set.

Because frankly, being able to see people’s pores on the screen is a little bit creepy.

Got $5?

If you’ve got a five dollar bill burning a hole in your pocket, you might want to check out today’s Daily Deals at Target—all of today’s deals are each just $5 with free shipping.

I’m kind of digging that cap-sleeved t-shirt (comes in a ton of colors), myself, but if I had a little girl I’d be stocking up on those wee adorable ballet flats. For $5 you can hardly go wrong, you know? Plus coupon code URTYJLI8 is still working for 10% off, so really, you’ll even have change after tax. Fabulous.

Honor our forefathers with lingerie

President’s Day is coming, and that of course means a time to reflect on this country’s great history; a time to give thanks to our founding fathers for their dedication to our democracy; a time to buy new bras.

What?

Through February 16th, 2010, check out the President’s Day Sale Event at Bare Necessities to save big on all manner of underthings and sleepwear. There are bras on Buy 2, Get 1 Free. There’s an additional 50% off clearance. Shapewear is 25% off. And the list goes on and on… plus shipping on $50+ is always free.

Washington would really want you to ditch that bra with the safety-pinned strap, I’m sure of it.

Just a little Kohls reminder

I know, I just mentioned the clearance at Kohls last week, but they finally have a new free shipping code out, so I figured it was worth another mention. Right now shipping is free on $75+ for everyone, and Kohls charge card holders can use code FEBKC15 for 15% off and code MVC4FREE for free shipping on any size order. No Kohls charge card? Use code NEW1729 for an extra 10% off, anyway.

Through February 14th, receive $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend, too. So that you can come back next month and spend more. They’re sneaky, like that.
