This is why I keep shopping
Repeat after me: My kids have enough clothes. My kids have enough clothes. My kids have enough clothes.
But when Children’s Place drops inventory to 50% off, and when you can still use coupon code HAA8 for another 15% off, it’s very difficult to remember that.
Just call me your friendly neighborhood enabler, I guess.
Free shipping (again) at Lands’ End
Looks like the recent drought of free shipping codes for Lands’ End is finally ending—in addition to the few codes we’ve had in the last week or so, now here’s a coupon good for free shipping on purchases through October 20th, 2008: Just use code OUTERWEAR with PIN 1013.
Don’t forget to check out the Overstocks and particularly On The Counter for the best deals!
Quicken online is now absolutely free
A couple of years ago I had a little epiphany when I was working on my taxes. And that epiphany went something like this: “Oh good LORD my bookkeeping is a big hot mess.”
Granted, things are perhaps a bit more complex for me because I run my own business, but everyone utilizing even a single bank account needs to have a reliable tracking system when it comes to managing their finances.
After extensive research, I bought myself a copy of Quicken which I have since loved and hugged and called George. Oh, just kidding—I don’t really call it George. (My computer is George. Obviously.) It has changed my life and I’m not even kidding. You could eat off my bookkeeping, now. Even though I am apparently mixing my metaphors.
Anyway, here’s some really neat news: Quicken Online is now completely free to use, forever. If you need some help getting your finance tracking into shape, definitely check it out. You can’t beat the price, that’s for sure.
And if you’d rather have the high-power, stand-alone version? Well, right now Quicken is offering 20% off and free shipping on their products, too. But I would have to say that for most folks, the free online version will be sufficient.
Why not get yourself organized now, before the holidays and well ahead of tax season? Feel free to thank me by sending cookies.
If you were on the fence, it’s time to get off
Look, I know some of you are skeptical about Restaurant.com. It does sound too good to be true, but I swear that it’s really not. You purchase and print dining certificates from your computer, then redeem that at your favorite restaurants for big savings.
Today (October 14th, 2008), for one day only, save 80% on your Restaurant.com purchase with coupon code EIGHTY. That means $25 dining certificates for just $2! Buy for you; buy for teacher gifts. Heck, at this price, you can even buy them for people you really don’t even like all that much.
Seriously, now: if you don’t want to save $23 for doing basically nothing, you’re on the wrong website.
Rock on with your frugal selves
Been considering Guitar Hero III for some lucky boy or girl (or spouse, or self!) this holiday season? Right now Circuit City has all their Guitar Hero bundles on sale with a $30 instant savings, this week. Shipping on purchases over $24 is always free, or choose in-store pick-up if your chosen item is out of stock online.
Sure, you could wait for Black Friday and hope you’ll get a better deal, or you could shop now and spend Black Friday nibbling on scrumptious leftovers. In your pajamas. I’m just sayin’.
Toastest with the mostest (for the leastest)
I have been shopping for a toaster oven for, oh, about a year and a half. Really.
The problem is threefold: First, our old model is too small, and I’d like one with 6-slice capacity. Second, toaster ovens are plentiful but their reviews are often abysmal (just cruise through Amazon if you doubt it). And finally, it’s very hard to buy just a toaster oven anymore—all of the new/good ones are also convection ovens.
Now, I only have a single oven, so I’d love to have a convection oven model, actually, but they’re much more expensive than their less-slick, plain-old-toaster-oven counterparts.
Until today!
Don’t ask me why Gevalia is selling a convection oven; I have no idea. But they are. That’s this oven right here, in case you’d like to peruse the specs and reviews. For whatever reason, Gevalia is selling this $100, highly-rated toaster oven for $34.95. Use code S7B560 for $8 off, which will just about cover the shipping.
And then tell me if you get one, so we can be super secret awesome toaster twins.
Save a third for the 13th
Who says that the number 13 is bad? Today’s the 13th of October, and today only you can save an additional 33% on one item at Family Christian—just use coupon code 1214544. (Certain exclusions apply, like gift cards, Willow Tree items, etc.)
Don’t be put off by the name if you’re not looking for Christian stuff; they have plenty of non-denominational items, too, particularly for kids. This week there’s an entire section of gifts under $10, and also a bunch of CDs that ship for free. You could find yourself a great deal if you look around a bit.
See? The 13th is lucky!
The toys are back in town
(Sorry. You’re going to have that song stuck in your head all day, now. Maybe the deals will make up for it.)
Amazon has started in with their pre-holiday toy markdowns, and you can start the week off in bargain nirvana with their Monday Markdowns—one day of awesome toy deals. Be sure to click through on any item that appeals, as some have bonus deals on them as well, such as additional dollars off or a second free item, etc.
You can save another $10 off your $50 purchase using Bill Me Later, too, which—you probably remember from prior deals—you can still do even if you pay with a gift certificate (therefore not leaving a balance on BML).
And on the seventh day. . .
… there were shoes on sale. (C’mon—resting is fine and all, but sale shoes are even better!)
I don’t know if this is a glitch or if it’s intentional, but right now Shoes.com shoes offered via Amazon are carrying two $20 off $80 promotions, meaning that you’ll save $40 on your $80+ purchase, automatically. (Click through to any valid pair and you’ll see two $20 off $80 promos in the “Special Offers” area. Keep in mind that some brands are excluded from this promotion.)
If you’re needing shoes (or your kids are; plenty of kids’ styles available) I’d jump on this one.
Quick, grab The Force while it’s back
Remember earlier this week when the Lego Star Wars Nintendo Wii game was down to $19.99? It’s back down again! Order now for delivery when it comes back in stock.
Trust me, buying this game will make you very popular with your favorite smallish boy.
