Even Bigfoot needs good shoes

Father’s Day is coming up, you know, and nothing says “I love you” like a really large pair of shoes. Right? Right?? Anyone?

Okay, maybe not.

Still, if you have (or are!) a big/tall guy who wears one of those hard-to-find extended shoe sizes, buying good sneakers can be a chore. They’re impossible to find, and then they’re so expensive you probably can’t afford socks to go with ’em. It’s a shame.

But look! What’s that I see? Is it a bird? A plane? No, it’s some Adidas Men’s a3 Gigaride Running Shoes in sizes 18 – 20 for just $30 shipped.

And seriously, if you’re buying shoes that size, you’d better be leaving me a comment telling me how tall the foot owner is. Because them’s some big shoes.

(Pssst! Have normal-sized man feet? Check out the Adidas Men’s Nova Cushion Running Shoe for $30, instead. Not as smokin’ of a deal because they weren’t as expensive to begin with, but you could pricematch at Zappos and get them for $26 shipped.)

A little spam for Fido’s sake

If you go sign up for their mailing list, these folks will send you a coupon good for a 5-pound bag of their dog food.

I once posted a deal of this sort and someone protested in comments that they don’t want the email spam that comes along with these offers. I said before and I’ll say again: You should have a dedicated email account specifically for your internet shopping and mailing lists. That way your “regular” inbox doesn’t get cluttered up.

There’s a million free email services out there, so there’s no reason not to just create and designate an account for this purpose. Heck, I have about a billion Gmail invites left; let me know if you want one.

Get a free iced latte today

Do you have a Friendly’s Restaurant near you? You might want to swing by there, today.

Friendly’s NEW Iced Latte is an invigorating blend of smooth roasted Sumatran coffee swirled with cream and poured over ice. Celebrate the coming of summer with a FREE regular flavored Latte on us!

Come back and try these four delicious flavors too:

Free Latte is regular flavor, 12oz size only and valid only on May 30, 2007. One latte per customer. Valid at participating locations only.

So… if I take my kids, I can get three lattes, right? (Oh, I’m kidding. If I drank three lattes I’m pretty sure my heart would explode.)

Now I can’t stop humming

I know a cure for the Hump Day blues, oh yes I do. Why not liven up your Wednesday with a visit to the Woot-Off? New deals every 15 minutes or so, and a great way to kill some time and maybe score a bargain.

Just, um, you might want to skip listening to the “Theme for Wooting-Off” linked on the right-hand side of the page, there. It’s a little too catchy. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

The only thing better than cheap movies. . .

… is free movies.

Do you like going to the movie theater? Do you have an ankle-biter or two (or more)? You may be able to catch some free flicks this summer! Both Regal Cinema and AMC Theaters run family-friendly movies for free during the summer, just because they’re hoping you’ll spend some bucks on snacks. (It looks like Cinemark offers a package at a deep discount, too, which is a nice deal if you can’t get to one of the free theaters.)

Heck, with the money you save on the tickets… why not splurge on the popcorn?

Let me make it up to you

Sorry about that last deal. (Gotta love Amazon. Go get it! Whoops, it’s gone!) Here’s something a bit less time-sensitive:

Now through June 12th, 2007, you can enjoy $1 shipping on any order at the A&E Television Store. Oh, sure—I know what you’re thinking. Educational! High- falutin’! Well, yes, some of it is… but right now, for example, you can get the 16-Ton Monty Python Megaset for 50% off. (Hrm. That seems to be going to another deal of the week, but search on Monty Python and you’ll find it.) And who doesn’t want that?

(Plenty of other goodies in the clearance section, too.)

If you don’t mind your deals a little girly

I don’t understand why toymakers insist on making things on “boy” and “girl” colors. There must be a market for it, but it annoys me to no end.

It doesn’t annoy me quite enough that I’d pass up a deal like this, though: Get yourself a 96-piece Geomag Pastelles set (ooooh! girly and so French!) right now for just $7.29; that’s 71% off the regular price.

Give it to a girl. Give it to an enlightened boy. Heck, just play with ’em yourself. I’m not naming any names, but someone around here has been known to build a sculpture or two while the kids are at school….

A quick reminder

I just wanted to point out that there are a few more days left to take advantage of this deal at Bank of America, and also to say a few words about it.

There are as many banks as fast food joints, these days, and most of the good ones will work to get your business. Be polite and friendly and you’ll be amazed at what you can get.

I’ve just returned from Bank of America, and instead of the $75 promised in the promo, I actually made $125. Now, in my case, I was opening several accounts (in preparation for my move, I’m transferring my banking to BofA because they’re national, while my current bank is not), but still, remember the Want Not mantra—if you don’t ask, you don’t get. I sat down with a very nice account executive and explained what my current bank is doing for me and was able to duplicate—or better—the current terms on my new accounts. I also had the first couple of months’ fees waived, because although I plan to meet minimum balance requirements to keep my accounts free, this gives me some time to get moved and settled before I have to worry about it.

It’s not magic; you just have to ask. Usually, they’ll say yes. You might want to stick to “thank you,” but telling the account executive she’s pretty might make her laugh. I’m just sayin’.

Great deals for the home

You should already know that Linens ‘N’ Things always has a “Deal of the Day” with free shipping, but today they’re having a Virtual Tent Saleicon in the “Deal of the Day” slot. What does this mean for you? Well, it means that they’re not doing the free shipping thing today, which is a bummer. But you can choose from nearly 70 discounted items instead of just two or three.

Keep in mind that you can choose the “ship to store” option and pick it up, yourself, if you want to avoid the shipping charge. And you can use coupon code 194712697488 to take 20% off of one item.

I’m thinking that lemonade set might be an awesome teacher gift, actually. (Yes, yes, I know; most of you are already done with school. Hmph.)

So many Ts, so little time

If I had billions of dollars, I’d own my dream home, the kids would have college tuition in the bank, and I’d have one of every shirt from Threadless. Their stuff just makes me smile.

Right now they’re having their Summer Sale, which means many of their shirts are marked down to $10 apiece. True, it’s not the very cheapest you can find a shirt… but it’s just about the only place you can find so many interesting/unique designs, and really, $10 for a t-shirt isn’t too bad. New designs being added daily—and sale continuing—through June 3rd, 2007.

In fact, for a shirt like this, I’d say it’s almost a steal. Heh.

(Psssst! Knitters! Check it out!)
