Saturday deals

Gooooood morning! Here’s a few deals to keep you out of trouble today, just in case you were thinking of paying full price for something.

Dying to pick something up from American Girl? I believe I posted this before, but it’s about to expire, so here it is again: Use coupon code P589112 for free shipping on any order.

Over at Lands’ End, they’re offering free shipping again. Use source code PICNIC with PIN 530953095 through June 12th, 2008, to ship any order for free.

If you’re wanting expensive designer stuff for less-heart-attack-inducing prices, they’re winding up the Designer Collection Sale at Nordstrom this weekend. (I still can’t afford to shop there, but maybe you can. Heh.)

Linens ‘N’ Things is offering free shipping on select Father’s Day gifts (many of which are also on sale) through June 1st, 2008. And don’t forget coupon code 26620000008 for 20% off one item, too!

All weekend at Overstock, you can take $8 off your $125+ order through that there link.

Jos. A. Bank has a section of sale items up to 70% off, perfect for your Father’s Day gift search. Just sayin’.

Through June 9th, 2008, everything at Petite Sophisticate is 50% off, which I guess means it was 200% too expensive to begin with. You can still use coupon code 776576308 for free shipping on $50+ or code 776576407 for 20% off $75+, too.

Happy shopping!

This week’s Friday Sale sponsored by overpriced caffeine

Sorry for the delay, folks—my internet at home just went kablooey, and before I can go through this week’s Amazon Friday Sale I have to go stand in a really long line and buy myself some overpriced coffee (in exchange for the privilege of wireless usage). Be right back!

Okay! Through the magic of reading me online, I have instantly reappeared, latte in hand. Let’s see what we have this week….

The thought of spending $190 on an electric razor causes me to break out into hives, but if you’re in the market for the Braun Pulsonic 9585, $190 is the lowest price I’ve seen (and it has great reviews). If you want something more reasonable, check out this Sanyo wet/dry model for $55.

Maybe it’s the caffeine, but this hidden litter box makes me giggle uncontrollably. “Hey, your plant smells a little funny….” (It’s half-price, though, so if you really needed a stealth litterbox planter, today’s your lucky day!)

Finally! I’ve been needing new bath towels and have been waiting for a deal forever. These are marked down to $8.99 apiece, plus they’re eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion and free Super Saver Shipping. Plenty of colors, too. Now, which ones should I get…?

And speaking of towels, these adorable hooded ones are down to just $9.99 apiece. That makes an awesome birthday party gift, by the way, for spring/summer parties. Not to mention that it tends to be appreciated by parents drowning in dolly gear and/or Pokemon.

Someone please apologize to my husband, but I think I’ve found another. I’m so sorry, darling, but I’ve fallen deeply in love with this chair. (Really, can you blame me?)

The Friday Sale pickings were a bit light today, but that should keep you busy for a little while. Me, I’m off to decide what color towels I want….

Tea party time for your little girly-girl

I’m the mom who refused to buy my baby girl anything pink. I’m the mom who said “No Barbies!” and insisted that I wasn’t going to saddle my daughter with gender expectations. I’m the mom who bought my daughter Legos and trucks.

And—you guessed it—I’m the mom who ended up with a prissy princess of a fashionista, whose favorite color is pink. I’m here to tell you that God has a sense of humor, and don’t let anyone tell you any differently.

Needless to say, my attitude towards the “girly” things in life has softened a bit, over the years. And so you’ll pardon me if I did a bit of squeeing over the following (both the price and the cuteness): Check out the Tea party table and stools for $47.83 shipped, the tea party bookcase for $37.50 shipped, and the tea party peg shelf for just $9.56 shipped.

You could do her entire room for under a hundred bucks. And then she’ll have a place to play with and store her Barbies! Or her Legos. Either way.

Graduation gift?

I’ve never entirely understood the whole give-a-graduate-a-pen thing. I mean, when I graduated from high school I could barely remember where I’d put my homework, and pens are a lot smaller. By the time I graduated from college I was slightly better, but not much.

Come to think of it, I really can’t keep track of much of anything. Have any of you seen my kids…?

Anyway. Lots of folks like to give a fancy-schmancy pen as a graduation gift. Okay, have at it. Just don’t spend a lot, because then if it gets lost that’d be a tragedy. Spend a little, and when it gets lost it’ll just be annoying.

How about a $10 Waterman pen from Buy.com? I sure can’t see spending the “recommended” $100 on it, but for $10 it’s pretty snazzy.

Coupons at Kohls, for a few more days

There’s a number of coupons expiring at the end of this month, so if you’ve been waffling about a purchase from Kohls, I’d get in there before they expire.

Here you go:
MVCTAKE15 — 15% off with your Kohls charge card
MVC9598 — free shipping with your Kohls charge card
NEW9143 — 10% off for everyone

It looks like they just did another round of deductions in the clearance section, so have at it. Of course, the game at Kohls is to order stuff that doesn’t go flying out of your basket while you’re browsing, but that’s part of the challenge, right?

Winner of the Education.com contest

The competition was fast and furious; we had 387 valid entries into the most recent contest, and I wish I had more than three prizes to give out.

Alas, I only have the three. Actually, I don’t even have them—Education.com has them, but they’re going to send them out to our winners, because they’re pretty, and we like them very much.

Without further ado, I give you our winners:

  • The first winner is number 150, LisaBug! LisaBug will be receiving the Happily Ever Crafter kit for her daughter.
  • The second number Ye Olde Random Number Generator gave me was 44, PsychMamma. She’ll be receiving the Zimbbos Elephantastic Pyramids.
  • And last, but certainly not least, I had to draw several numbers before reaching someone who’d asked for the Magnetic Poetry Kit, but the third time was the charm—lucky number three was number 203, Sharlene. Congratulations, Sharlene! You were officially in the right place at the right time!

Winners, please check your email and get back to me with your mailing addresses.

Everyone else, you’re still looking very pretty today, and I thank you for playing. More contests are (always) coming up, so don’t lose hope.

You know I like shiny things. . . like hair

(Okay, that one was a stretch, I know….)

Dove’s got some new shampoos out! They make your hair shiny! (Also, I just had a really big cup of coffee; can you tell?) If you go here and click on “Get a Free Sample,” you can choose between Shine Therapy or Go Fresh Energy Therapize (which sounds a lot like something from a “Mom, do you ever have that not-so-fresh feeling?” commercial, to me).

Hey, it’s free shampoo. Free shiny shampoo. I’m in!

Don’t forget—the contest to win a fabulous game from Education.com wraps up tonight, so click on over there and pick yourself the prize you’d like to win before midnight.

Can I just tell you that watching so many of my favorite people say “elephantastic” makes me happy? Because it does. You’re all very cute.

It’s not candle season, but you can pretend

Hey, the weather’s getting warmer, and everyone’s retail thoughts are turning to patios and lawns and pools.

Not candles.

That’s not super great news for the candle industry, but it is super great news for you, because those candle folks? They want you! They want you badly enough that they’re willing to lure you in. And because you’re so smart and pretty, you know that you can stock up now and have everything you need when the weather cools off again. You’re always thinking.

So go take a browse around at Illuminations, and if you see something that tickles your fancy, prepare to save big: Use coupon code 999201360 for $10 off your $10+ order through June 4th, 2008. (Buying more? Today only—May 28th, 2008—use code 999201351 for $15 off your $60+ order.)

Check out the Sale section for the best bargains, of course. And then pat yourself on the back for planning ahead, you savvy thing, you.

Stock up on cereal (or other stuff)

So, you know that Amazon does a new crop of grocery deals every month, right? But it can be hard to keep track of what deals are on when, and which things that qualify for promotional discounts are on sale.

That’s why you have me! I check this stuff obsessively, because I really need to get a life and possibly a hobby or two. Ahem.

Anyway! Right now there’s a deal on eligible grocery brands like Kellogg’s and Keebler where you can take $20 off your $49+ purchase. That’s pretty good, anyway, but there’s a number of available products that are already on sale, making it a great way to make your grocery dollars go even further.

Also, cookies don’t have any calories when you buy them on sale. I’m sure I read that somewhere….
