Archive for May, 2008

The current cost of gas is making me an even bigger hermit than I used to be. I can justify very few reasons to get into the car and drive, and so I’m always on the lookout for free shipping deals, figuring we’re all trying to stay put a little more often these days.
Through tomorrow (May 13th, 2008), use coupon code L05118 to ship any size Lane Bryant order for free. So if you needed a little something, you’re all set. If you want to do a bunch of shopping, you’re set there, too. Either way.
There’s over 100 items in the clearance section, too.

Hey, it turns out many of you want to streamline your morning routine. Go figure! I never would’ve guessed that, but then again, I spend all day at the computer in my pajamas. So it’s possible I’m not the very best barometer for these things.
Anyway! I have only one Oral-B prize pack to give away, and that will be heading to the home of commenter 109, Kim! Congratulations, Kim! I hope your morning routine goes more smoothly, and that you enjoy your goodies.
Many thanks to all who played, and to Oral-B and my pal Charlie the PR ninja for donating the prize. (Setting my watch—how long will it take Charlie to email me because I just called him a PR ninja? Timing… now!) ‘Nother contest coming up later today (of course), so stay tuned.

Did you know that Nine Inch Nails is giving away their latest album? It’s true! Register and download the slip for free.
Maybe this doesn’t thrill you, but perhaps you have a teenager or a hipper friend who’ll be excited about it. (Me, I’m not a huge NIN fan, but free is always something to be shared, right?)

This contest isn’t going to be particularly sexy, but it does involve some free stuff you’d probably like to have, so check this out:
The folks at Oral-B say this: “Since we spend so much of our morning in the bathroom, try and use as many multitasking tools as you can like a two in one shampoo and conditioner or try a moisturizer with SPF built in.”
So what you’ll receive if you win is an Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health toothbrush (motto: Space age technology and a really long name!), a bottle of Pantene Pro-V Full & Thick 2 in 1 Shampoo + Conditioner, and some Oil of Olay Total Effects Moisturizer with SPF 15. It will streamline your morning routine! And also be free!
For your chance to win, leave a comment on this post by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 11th, 2008. One comment per person, with a valid email address, please! Winner to be chosen by random number generation and x-ray vision. Which is not built into any of the products you’ll be winning. Sorry.
Go!

Good morning! I may spend some time shopping for a new grill, today. On the other hand, I may just spend some time poking myself in the eye with a fork. It’s a tough choice, frankly.
But you should feel free to leisurely scan for whatever you need at the very best price, because I doubt I’ll be getting a deal today and someone should.
Free shipping is back at Lands’ End; just use source code SPLASH with PIN 530653065 through May 15th, 2008.
At Home & Beyond, using coupon code DINE on your $40+ order will get you a free $25 Restaurant.com certificate. (Check out their Hot Buys section.)
This weekend at Overstock you can take $20 off your $300+ order through that there link, and that actually combines with this weekend’s special, which is 5% off garden and patio items, so between the two, you could rake in the savings.
Today (Saturday, May 10th, 2008) only, get $5 off your $25 purchase at Toys R Us through that link there. There are some games on sale with free shipping, so I’d look at those to maximize the savings, personally.
Through the weekend, Fashion Bug is taking 40% off regular prices and an additional 20% off sale prices. Make it better with a coupon: 776214504 gets you free shipping on $75+, and 776214603 gives you 15% off any order.
Contest coming up later today, so come on back….

Hey, I don’t know much about tents (or camping, really, come to think of it…), but this Eureka tent appears to be quite the deal. Great reviews, and at $95.64 and free shipping it’s around $100 cheaper than any of the alternative buying options.
And lookee here—looks like you can get a $10 rebate, too.
Sleeps 10, which means it’s a pretty big model, but worth checking out if you need a larger tent. Or a smallish jail for your children.

Hey, today marks the last Amazon Friday Sale before Mother’s Day. Too late to order anything for the big day, of course, but very timely if you’re wanting to get yourself a little something just to say, “Self, you’re awesome.” (Or, alternatively, to say, “Self, that is a mighty fine deal.” I shop that way all the time.)
If you need a serious baby backpack, this Kelty carrier is the gold standard. (I had a slightly lower model, back in the day, and while the price made me swallow my tongue, it really was worth it.)
I’m not normally a fan of accouterments for the inside of a car, but these seat covers just made me laugh.
Oooh, the George Foreman grill with removable plates is back. Not a killer price, but a good one if you’ve been wanting this. (Handy tip: Do not buy a Foreman grill with non-removable plates. Trust me.)
Nothing says “Happy Mother’s Day to me!” like the gift of a floor-washing robot. I’m just sayin’.
How cute is this little bookcase? So cute!
So the other day I said that Weber grills never go on sale, but that’s not entirely true. If you want this little one that’s a pretty great price. (And it’s so cute! And small!)
Cheap bamboo sheets! Only the queen is cheap, though—other sizes, not so much.
Oh, the things I learn at Amazon. I didn’t even know feet needed detox. Go figure.
Have a great Friday, everyone!

The big summer sale is on at Jos. A. Bank
, plus they’re offering free shipping on orders of $175+. Now’s the time to stock up on wardrobe essentials for the well-dressed man!
Or, you know, the man whose wardrobe needs a loving overhaul. Go ahead; I’ll create a distraction while you throw away that Def Leppard shirt he wore all through college.

The competition was stiff, but in the end, the random number generator could handle it. (Phew!) 328 of you entered the contest to win Flipper toothbrush holders and 4 of you are about to walk away victorious.
As promised, I randomly generated one number to be our grand prize winner, receiving up to three Flippers. That number was 124, Heather! Heather asked for two Flippers, and that’s what she’ll receive.
Our runners-up were Gretchen (328, and the distinction of being the first time in Want Not contest history that the random number generator gave me the very last number possible), Alyssa (27), and Jecathre (177), who will all receive one Flipper each.
If you didn’t win, but you’re grooving on the coolness that is the Flipper, don’t despair! If you decide to go shop for your very own Flippers, through the end of May you can use coupon code Want Not to take 20% off your total order. Furthermore, of the orders received using that code, two lucky folks will be selected at random to receive the upcoming Flipper Ozy (click here for a look at it), a new model for grown-ups. Many, many thanks to the folks at Flipper for donating the prizes and extending this generous offer to my readers!
Stay tuned, because you know there’s more contests coming up. Maybe even one this weekend, just to celebrate Mother’s Day.
