I keep meaning to mention this, and keep getting distracted by other, shinier things: Apparently the price of peanuts has more than doubled this year, thanks to drought and other unfavorable weather conditions. That’s bad news for those of us who love peanut butter, as you can expect the prices to start rising any day, now.
I just stocked up at Amazon; our new favorite is Skippy Natural Super Chunk, and I say that as someone who was a devoted Jif lover for years. It’s currently just under $2/jar when you buy the 6-pack via Subscribe & Save. The Skippy Natural Creamy, Natural Creamy with Honey, Roasted Honey Nut Super Chunk and Regular Creamy are around the same price, too.
Am I going to have 12 jars of peanut butter in my pantry? Why yes. Yes, I am. I’m also still going to have peanut butter when the price spikes, so I’m okay with that.
Eeeep! Smuckers natural peanut butter was cheap too.
Thanks Mir!
I usually get the Skippy Natural Creamy with Honey, but for this price I might be willing to forgo the honey!
Christina, that’s on sale, too! 🙂
Natural Super Chunk is out now, but my kids will just have to live with Creamy.
I bought 12 jars. My son eats peanut butter for breakfast every. single. day. and for lunch about 4 days a week. It’s about the only protein source I can get into him on a regular basis! :/
Can’t have too much peanut butter. 18 jars in the pantry so far – and we’ll blow through that quickly. Try putting a few scoops of peanut butter in your little dipper crockpot. Add a splash of milk and a couple of marshmallows. (Do not stir – too gloppy at this point.) Plug in and let cook for 60 minutes. Stir. Use as after school dip for apple slices and celery. Graham crackers good too. (Recipe from Stephanie O’Dea’s site – crockpot365.com)
Plus food banks LOVE peanut butter. Yay!
Looks like it’s all being sold by third party vendors now so no subscribe and save (unless I missed seeing it on the page). Still, it’s good to know about peanut prices going up. I’ll be sure and stock up at the store on our favorite brand!! PB is one of the 4 food groups at my house, the other three being chocolate, chips, and coffee. We’re super healthy.
the natural super chunk just barely came back in stock at the $12 subscribe and save price…and I was able to snatch up an order. I keep refreshing so that I can see if the natural creamy comes back in stock too…
peanuts? butter? what’s not to love.

Brilliant! We go through lots of peanut butter and I’m tired of trying to catch it on sale. 12 jars of creamy are headed my way!
Creamy is out of stock on S&S, but chunky is back in. Too bad, my kids hate chunky. “What is this? TEXTURE in my FOOD? MOOOOOM…”
Awww … how did I miss this? Let us know if you spot something similar another time. I eat peanut butter every day; it is a bitter, bitter irony that no one else in my family shares the love (thus no way I can delude myself about how much of it I eat). I’m also a convert from Jif. Ate that stuff for YEARS but then tried the Skippy Natural, possibly on your recommendation sometime last year, and prefer it.
I missed the note about them having the Natural with honey, I ordered the regular Natural creamy. It’s all good, I can always add my own honey! 🙂
I was so excited about this that it’s kind of sad. I mean, who gets all happy when they realize that they can get peanut butter DELIVERED TO THE HOUSE for cheap? I’m kind of pathetic, I think. But, I was just pricing peanut butter at Sam’s and it was about $8 for two jars of Jif (because I’m a choosy mom! And that’s what I usually choose!). Now…they are 40 oz. each, so my brain in going into overdrive to see if I saved any money by going this route. (Math ain’t my strong suit!)
The best sale price for us locally is $1.50 for this size jar, so I’m passing this one up. Our regular price is about $2… I guess I should be glad to live where the food’s a bit cheaper!
