The return of the Allure Beauty Box

By Mir
April 22, 2008

Some of you have done this deal in the past, but for those of you who haven’t, here’s the deal: Every year Allure Magazine puts together a box of beauty goodies—usually heavily geared towards sun protection, so there will be some regular make-up but also lots of sunblock items and fancy moisturizers.

The box is then released on a predetermined day/time, and the supply is limited. It’s a first come, first served kind of thing. This year’s box is a $255 value and can be ordered for $29.99 plus shipping. You will be able to find it through this link starting at 12:01 p.m. eastern time today (April 22nd, 2008) NOW (it’s currently 10:40 a.m. and people have been able to order already).

I’ve gotten the box a couple of times and have always been pleased with it. Generally if you like and use even a couple of items, it pays for itself and the rest is gravy. These will sell out extremely quickly so be poised to hit the site and order as close to noon as possible if you want one.

Go below the fold to see what items will be included in this year’s box; just keep in mind that some of these items will be full-size and some will be sample-size.

  1. I get a “Sorry, we couldn’t find the page you were looking for.” message.

    ???

  2. Just saw that it was 12:01 PM. Thought it was AM. My bad.

  3. I get the same sorry!

  4. This was a great deal last year. I’ll try to be lucky again this year . . .

  5. Thanks for the heads up, Mir! I did this a few years ago and was extremely pleased also.

  6. Just a heads up- I was able to order it and it’s only 10:20 EST

  7. Yeah, I was able to order one too – 10:28 am EST – and it’s 29.99 PLUS shipping.

And can I just say, I am so excited to get it! Thanks pretty, pretty Mir!

  8. I just tried this to see if I could buy early & it let me, so my box is already ordered and confirmed :-)… it’s 10:21 a.m. EST here. Go on & try it yourselves… I wonder if it generally sells out so quickly because of impatient people like me… who are always testing limits…

  9. Yep, just ordered mine at 10:38 EST. Yay!

  10. I wasn’t even able to click on the big pink circle that read “click here”. So, I couldn’t figure out how to even get in there to order.

  11. Where do you click? Nothing is happening. 🙁

  12. I suspect they’ve either sold out, or are going to make us wait till 12:01 PM EST. :I

  13. Arrgh – nowhere to click! Clicking on “Click Here” doesn’t work!

  14. Rats! I waited until 12:01 and still cannot click on the box. Grr!

  15. It showed up for a second, but the site kept going down when I’d try to get to the payment page. It let me through one time, but my cart said 0 boxes. 🙁

  16. Same thing happening to me! Arg!

  17. The payment site is having big problems. I can’t checkout. 🙁

  18. the page just keeps saying loading 🙁

  19. Unfortunately, the problems you’re experiencing are pretty typical for the Allure Beauty Box. The site gets slammed and sometimes it freaks out for a bit. Try to be patient… eventually it works out and orders can be placed.

  20. I have tried this for a few years, never successful. Still trying though.

  21. I got it to go through, but had to pay tax and shipping for a total of $37 and change. Apparently it comes with a free subscription to Allure.

  22. I finally got through and it was $37 even. I don’t think the Allure subscription is free. Read the (not so) fine print on the order and confirmation pages-

“Your Beauty Box purchase includes a one-year (12 issues) subscription to Allure magazine, valued at $12. If you do not wish to receive Allure magazine and instead prefer a refund, please print out a copy of your Beauty Box purchase, write “REFUND” on it, send your Beauty Box proof of purchase along with your full name and address to: Conde Nast Special Programs – Allure magazine – P.O. Box 37722, Boone, IA 50037-0722. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your refund. “

  23. For those who have gotten through, do you get an email after purchasing?

  24. Nevermind, I finally got an email. The submit page is still hanging but I got the confirmation email. 🙂 Hang in there to those still trying…

  25. Ok, I got to the submit page, but the next page times out. Do you think the order still went through, or should I keep hitting submit? I don’t want to order multiple boxes!
    Thanks!
    Emily

  26. for ajp: How long did it take between submitting and getting the email?

  27. I was worried about ordering multiple boxes because I kept refreshing the payment process page after timing out. But none of them went through until I got the email. I got the email about 10-15 minutes BEFORE the Confirmation page actually came up on their website. I’d keep an eye on your email if you’re refreshing.

  28. It took me nearly 2 hours, but I finally got through! I gave up on refreshing my original order, backed out and started over, and it went through the first time. Hurray!

  29. Go now I just got in with NO problems!

  30. I had the same experience – it hung up on the confirmation page when I hit submit with my credit card info. Ack, I hate that.

After no emailed confirmation for 30 minutes, I tried to start again, and finally got through. This time it went through with few delays, and I got the confirmation email nearly instantaneously.

    I just hope I don’t have two coming my way . . .

  31. Took me about 40 minutes of refreshing and starting over before I got to the thank you page. I just hope I don’t end up with five boxes! Still have not received any email, tho…

  32. Ah, just got the email. I think only the last transaction went through (the one where I saw the final thank you page) Whew! Good luck to the rest of you!

  33. Wow! It worked at 1:40ish. Pretty quickly too!

  34. just ordered mine too, thanks pretty Mir!

  35. I noticed on the fine print that you can send your proof of purchase and receipt with refund printed on it and they will refind the 12 dollar value of the magazine in place of the subscription, making this an even better deal!

  36. It worked fine at 1:54 EST so don’t give up hope!

  37. no more inventory boo hoo

  38. I got it to go through by clicking on the hot pink circle (not the click here to purchase link at the bottom of the list). It took a couple of tries to get to the end, but it worked.

    Thanks, Mir!

  39. “We’re sorry, there is no remaining inventory.” After hitting Refresh for almost two hours, I guess I just wasn’t meant to get in on this one. 😛 But congrats to those who did!

  40. I get the message: We’re sorry, there is no remaining inventory. GAH!! It’s not even 12:00 EST!

  41. Darn it! I had one but the final thank you page timed out so I don’t think it actually went through. 🙁

Well, it’s not like I actually needed to spend the money, but darn, I really wanted that hat. Oh well, there’s always next year!

  42. they’re sold out now (3:45-ish ET)
