Yummy, portable fruit

As the cold weather moves in, I’m all about portable, shelf-stable fruit options for the kids’ lunches, because I’m not buying peaches from Romania or whatever once everything’s out of season. Hmph. (And yes, I love apples, but there are only so many apples we can eat….)

I just picked up some strawberry banana crisps on special at Amazon; the 24-pack comes out to $10.15 in your cart, so it’s about $.42 a bag. Eligible for Prime or free Super Saver Shipping on $25+.

There’s nothing inside but delicious, freeze-dried fruit. My kids think this stuff is candy. (Shhhh. Don’t tell them.)

  1. comes out more expensive, $20 ish, in my cart

  2. Nope, should automatically take half off at checkout, Kris. Check again. 🙂

  3. I had to go all the way to check out, just before confirming to see the $10 total, Kris. HTH!

  4. My kids also think these are candy. Based on the price of dried strawberries, I always thought they were infused with gold flecks. I picked up a 24-pack– thanks for the tip!

  5. Mir, I read you every day, but it seems like a long time since I actually took advantage of one of your suggestions. This one I did. These will be awesome snacks for preschool this winter. Thank you!

  6. Ugh. Why is it that *nothing* on Amazon.com seems to ship to APO addresses? So much for that Prime membership I bought. 🙁

  7. Those are yummy, as are the pears.

I read an article the other day that stated that raisins are good emergency food, because they never spoil. Obviously, this was a fairly broad interpretation of the word “never,” but still, good info.

  8. I love these snacks for me and my kids. My Costco stopped selling the apple ones, so I bought 100 packs directly from Brothers. FYI, 100 bags is ALOT of bags. I have them stashed everywhere throughout my kitchen and garage!

  9. I waited too long on these…!! I had it in my cart and I was at the check out point earlier today, but never completed the process. The promo is gone as of 5:40PM. Some varieties are out of stock and the special offers/promo info has now changed to a Prevention magazine offer… 🙁

  10. Dern it! I missed out, too… 🙁 I obviously need to visit you here on a more frequent basis…

  11. I just ordered, so it’s still working. you guys should try clicking through the link again.

  12. I just tried and can’t get it to work at all – and that is going through the link and all the way to “Place your order”. Hmmm…bummed!

  13. I tried a couple of times and the price came up $26.36 for 24 pack with no prime shipping on DAB products.

  14. So sad I missed this – I keep wanting to get freeze dried fruit for daughter – she loves it when its in cheerios, etc. Just tried, no prime, no discount. But I am a day late too. (And dollar short? 😉

  15. Oh poop, missed it
