Heads up, Hyperbole and a Half fans!

If you, like me, basically consider Allie Brosh and her book Hyperbole and a Half all that is good and right and true about this world, I have some super-exciting news for you: She has a new book coming out!!

You can pre-order Solutions and Other Problems on Amazon right now for $13.40 (paperback) and it will ship when it’s released in October. (And with the Amazon Pre-order Price Guarantee, if the price drops again before then, you’ll get the lowest price.)

My kids consider Hyperbole and a Half something of a life manual, and of course it helps that she writes about her Special Dog and her Helper Dog, who closely mirror our own dogs in terms of intellect. Sometimes I get a text from one kid or the other which reads either “Bees?” or is just a few bee emojis. If you don’t know why that’s funny, buy the first book right now, and then go pre-order the second one.

  1. The Helper Dog. Her drawings. Positively made me weep because I was laughing so hard.

  2. CAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I don’t know if it is just my browser settings, but it makes me laugh even harder that my crazed “CAKE!” comment above extends approximately 3 feet off of the righthand edge of the browser window.

I still cannot read “The God of Cake” without nearly hurting myself laughing.

    • Oldest daughter read that piece in High School Forensics last season, ended up with a First Place at State. She then passed it to the youngest, who took home lots of hardware this season in her first year in Middle School Forensics, culminating in Third Place at State. Liza, if either of your kids get bit by the forensics bug, this is the piece they want. Judges LOVED it. Cake, indeed. And Mir, yay for early Christmas shopping!

  4. But how does it not eat bees?

    • Mouth hurt less if eat more bees??

  5. I made food! I am magical!

    • Bahahahaaa! When we’re going somewhere in the car, I’ll sometimes look at my husband like I’m petrified and start keening, “EEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeEEEEeeee!” until he gets fed up and tells me to stop.

I am special! I have needs! If I make this noise, everything will be okay again!
