Full disclosure: I own five crock pots. Don’t judge me. I use them all. (I really do!) They come in especially handy for Thanksgiving dinner prep, but I realize my deep and abiding love of all things slow cooker may not be entirely normal.
That said, if you’re only going to own one crock pot, I recommend springing for one that’s programmable. But if you already own a programmable one—or simply don’t feel the need for it, or can’t afford it—you might be interested in a great deal on one that’s not. And if you ever travel to potlucks or whatever, you definitely want one with a locking lid. So! Behold: Amazon has the Crock-Pot SCCPVL600S Cook’ N Carry 6-Quart Oval Manual Portable Slow Cooker available right now for just $23.99, its lowest price ever.
If you’ve been thinking about a backup crock, or one specifically for transporting, this is a great deal on a highly-rated model.
Fortunately, I already have one with a locking lid. Hear that sound? (It’s my family heaving a giant sigh of relief that I’m not buying another crock pot.)
You’re totally a bad influence. I now will have to get rid of one of my crockpots to make room for this one. But I needed one with a locking lid! I bring food to work in my crockpot!
I’ll second the bad influence comment!! But, wow, this will come in handy. 🙂
Hmm, it’s up to $38 now. I didn’t really need a third crockpot, but I love the locking lid on this one. I’ll wait to see if it goes down again.
It’s back down to $23.99! (8:08pm EST)
Not only did I get the $23.99 price, I also somehow got a $5 credit, making my net price $18.99 — I have 5 qt. crockpots, now I’ll have a 6 qt. Thanks, Mir!
Any favorite links to crockpot recipes?
My very favorite place to get crock recipes is from A Year of Slow Cooking. I also adapt a lot of non-crock recipes to go in the crock, because I’m lazy like that.
Ooowee, glad I checked back…$23.99!!
I’m browsing this much too late to order, but I’m going to keep alert to these. I had five crock pots in the house until my daughter graduated from college and moved out on her own and took hers with her. I really do use all the different sizes. Now that I’m attempting to train my young 20-something (Blind, Asperger’s) to take care of himself, I’m going to buy myself a small size crock pot for him.
