I kind of have a thing about food storage containers. I wouldn’t say it’s an illness, most like… ummm… an intense interest? Because… food. And packing lunches, so very many lunches.
Anyway! For home use I prefer glass storage, but glass in lunchboxes seems like a very bad idea indeed, so for packed lunches I use plastic, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I used to love Lock & Lock the best, but have recently become a Sistema convert. They’re both good, really… it’s possible I give the edge to Sistema because you can get it in pretty colors. (I own my shallowness.) Both brands are made from BPA-free polypropylene, plus have easy-open lid-lock mechanisms and leak-proof seals. But today on Sellout.Woot they have a 16-piece Sistema set for $15.99, and while it’s not colorful, it is a great deal.
If you need containers to augment your lunch supplies, this is the deal to grab,
I’m not sure if you are a Zulily fan or not, but there are oodles of Sistema things on their Pantry sale page today.
This particular set is cheaper on Woot than on Zulily, right now, though if you had credit there, that would be a different story. 🙂
Oh man. LOVE SISTEMA.
I almost ordered these last night, but too many of the Amazon reviewers who had tried them with liquids said they are not leakproof at all – even several of the 5-star reviews mentioned not being leakproof. I need containers that can hold liquid and stand up to being tossed around in a kid’s lunchbox.
Huh. I have tons of Sistema (not this particular set, though) and it’s all leakproof. I wonder if this is a lesser-quality build…? Thanks for the heads up.
I really don’t need them but they’re purdy! And I recently bought my first sistema piece for $9.
I have a set of these that we use for small boy toy portability.
The boy can close these clip lids better than the ‘reusable’ zip lock style containers, they hold up better in a backpack that is dragged all over the ground, and are relatively compact for the varying needs of dragging Pokemon cards, Lego’s, rocks and other tiny treasures. Of course, I also have some for food stuff and lunch boxes.
