Stuff those stockings with girl-friendly LEGO
Let me just say right off the bat that I am irked that LEGO felt the need to make an entire line out of building sets that will specifically appeal to girls. Girls like regular LEGO just fine, in my experience. The pinkness of it all disturbs me. That said… like most everything else LEGO makes… I kind of end up going, “Oh, hey, that’s cool,” in spite of myself. I realize that I am kind of at odds with myself in this way. I’m choosing to ignore it for the moment.
Right now Amazon has two little LEGO Friends sets at their lowest price ever, and wouldn’t they be perfect for stockings? You can snag the Bunny Hutch Playset or Hedgehog Hideaway Playset each for just $3.39 apiece, which is pretty much a no-brainer except for the fact that they’re add-ons, so that’s only going to work if you’re buying other stuff, as well.
This LEGO Friends Camper (my favorite part: little LEGO bicycles! they’re not even pink!) is down to $25, which is close to the lowest price it’s ever been, and that might be a good pick if you were going that route.
Overall, I still prefer “regular” LEGO, but some of the details here are pretty adorable.
Time to save on watches!
It’s something of a rite of passage in our house when the kids are old enough to receive their own wristwatches. And then we get the joy of repeating this ritual as the watches are lost, broken, and otherwise in need of replacing.
Luckily, right now Amazon is offering 30% off your $100+ watch purchase, which means you can buy a single pricy watch or several less expensive ones or whatever. As long as you select items sold directly from Amazon, coupon code 30OFFNOV gives you the savings.
What I think we really need is a watch with a duct tape band (so that I can tape it to the kids’ arms…); so far I’m not finding that, but I’ll keep looking.
One-day-only deals from Vera
The deals are starting to ramp up over at Vera Bradley now that we’re nearing the holidays—today they’re offering automatic free shipping on $75+, plus a series of today-only deals in the sale section. Choose from $40 backpacks, $15 wallets, or On The Go purses for just $30.
All travel items are 25% off, too. If you love Vera, today’s a good day to shop.
If you like fancy coffee…
… this week you can get it for less. Today (November 13th) through the 15th, swing by your local Starbucks between 2-5—they’re doing Buy 1, Get 1 Free on their holiday drinks.
(If you wanted to swing by here with your extra, that’d be cool.)
Happy 11/12/13!
To celebrate, check out the $14 sale going on now over at 6pm.com—items will sell out fast.
I’d say more, but I have to go shop.
Grab that big-ticket item today, and save $50
There’s all kinds of sales currently running over at Bon-Ton—because, let’s face it, there’s always a sale at Bon-Ton—but you can also save $50 on top of that if you play it right.
Coupon code ZNOVEMBER50 is available today only (Tuesday, November 12th) to take an extra $50 off your qualifying $100+ purchase. Some exclusions apply; I wasn’t about to use it on on a “Web Exclusive” KidKraft play set, for example. But it worked just fine on an already-discounted winter coat, and it worked on some luggage I tried it on, too, as well as when I added a variety of smaller items to my cart for a total of $100+. (Just beware of their special labels like “Incredible Value” and such, I think.)
You may need to play around with it some to see where it works, but surely you can find something where an additional $50 in savings is welcome. Stack it with free shipping code ES826, too. But hurry—the extra $50 savings is available today only.
Get your just-because-I-like-you gifts now
Lovely reader Laurin pointed out that there’s a today-only special going on over at Bath & Body Works: all full-size shower gels (normally $12.50) are just $5. On top of that, you can use coupon code MIDNIGHT10 for $10 off $30+ and free shipping on $30+, which means you can get 8 shower gels for around $32 shipped, or about $4 each to your door.
These are great for stockings, for teachers, for hostess gifts, for keep-in-the-gift-closet-for-random-occasion gifts, etc.
Thanks for the tip, Laurin! By the way, you smell amazing!
If you’re shopping for a Galaxy Tab…
… you could do a lot worse than today’s featured Woot deal, which is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with Bluetooth Keyboard & Universal Desktop Charging and Audio Out Dock bundle for just $260. Yes, this is a refurbished unit, but given that the brand-new bundle goes for around $350 (see Amazon for price comparison and reviews), it’s a great way to save some money.
I’m an Apple gal, myself, but I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about the Tab, and I love that this essentially gives you a setup where you have both the convenience of a tablet and the ease of a real keyboard when you need it. Pretty nice.
Family fun in the Gold Box
I’ll admit, I haven’t been that impressed, just yet, with this year’s Countdown to Black Friday Lightning Deals. Granted, they don’t tend to get really exciting until later in the month, but still.
That said, today’s main Amazon Gold Box Deal is deep discounts on a plethora of family board games, and we always add a new game (or two or three…) to our collection over the holidays. It turns out that it can be difficult to make teenagers stick around to play Scrabble with you, but if you’re playing a game that’s likely to make everyone laugh, it’s a different story. So yeah, I have some ulterior motivation, but I’m okay with that. At these prices, I’m very okay with that, in fact.
The Friends & Family sale your kids want
It’s a little hard for me to shop online at Aeropostale when we have an Outlet within an hour of here, I’ll admit. I’ve gotten some amazing deals there—way better than I can do online even during a sale—plus it wins the love and gratitude of my clothes-horse teen for, like, ten whole minutes.
On the other hand, going to the Outlet means I have to stand in a really noisy store for a long time, and they never have enough registers open. Suddenly online shopping seems like the better bargain….
Anyway! Right now they’re doing Friends & Family savings, which means that coupon code FRIENDS30 will actually take 40% off one item and 30% off the rest of your items. Spend $100 and shipping is free, or check out with Paypal for free shipping on any order. (No teens yet? No problem—the same sale is on for their tween clothing at P.S.)
No standing in line required.
