My kind of sale, oh yes

I’ve never shopped at Boston Proper before today, mostly because their regular prices are a bit much for me (and a little bit because some of their clothes look like they belong in the Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog). (Oh hey, unrelated, but it looks like Frederick’s is offering 40% off and free shipping right now, too. I’m glad I thought to link that and then checked the link!)

Anyway! This morning that all changed, because they’re doing an automatic extra 40% off their clearance, plus they have an available $20 off $20+ coupon code available! Just apply code 17232 for your savings. Shipping is a flat $5.

And yeah, I know I generally say that paying shipping is for suckers, but with a coupon like this…. Let’s just say that when I can snag a pair of TKees ($50 sandals) for around $6 shipped, I’m cool with paying the shipping.

Hard-headed

I bought this Razor V-17 multi-sport helmet a couple of years ago when it was on a Lightning Deal, and right now it’s even cheaper—just $9.50 and eligible for free Prime shipping. That’s the lowest price it’s even been, and under $10 for a quality protective helmet for the kiddos is great.

If someone in your house will be getting a new bike or scooter or skateboard for the holidays, maybe pick this up now, to go with it.

Also, I think maybe my family has particularly small heads. This helmet still fits my teenaged boychild and actually fits me, too. Does this mean our brains are dense? Don’t answer that.

Thanks, Eddie! I love free shipping!

So you know that I love Eddie Bauer, right? It’s just that they hardly ever offer free shipping, and for a while there you always had to pay that darn handling fee, even when they did.

That part was a real bummer.

For whatever reason, right now they’re offering a semi-secret code for free shipping both ways—way to take the risk out of shopping, when you can ship back stuff you don’t want for free!—plus it’ll take 20% off anything that isn’t already on clearance. (If it’s a clearance item, you’ll still get the free shipping, but no additional discount. It does work on items merely “on sale,” though.)

So here you go: Through the weekend, use code ADVENTURE to get the savings and the free shipping. And if you get something and it’s not for you, send it back for free. Easy peasy! Now this is definitely the way to shop.

It’s a mini Woot-Off

I don’t know why, but let’s just go with it—today there’s a Woot-Off going on, but only at Sellout.Woot. It’s like a mini Woot-Off. A Woot-Off Hors d’oeuvre, if you will, rather than a full meal.

That’ll be easier to keep track of than when they have five of their sites doing rotating deals, anyway. Silver lining!

Draw with water, like magic

Remember when the original Buddha Board came out? It seemed like a minor miracle, the ability to just paint to your heart’s content, enjoy the creation for a little while, and then voila, back to a blank canvas. Perfect for arty kids and adults alike!

Then they made smaller versions, and then ones in color. Personally, I like the black and white one the best, but with the original at $35 and the “laptop” versions normally $25, it’s hard to argue with this pink laptop Buddha Board being just under $10 at Amazon right now. This is a great gift closet item, too, because it works for so many different ages.

I kind of love it.

I’ll take all the lattes, please

I’m a brew-a-regular-pot-of-coffee-and-add-a-splash-of-cream-to-my-mug kind of person at home, but my not-so-secret indulgence for the rare fancy coffee out is latte. Frothy milk makes everything fancier, apparently.

Does that mean I can maybe justify today’s bonus Gold Box deal of a Mr. Coffee BVMC-EL1 Cafe Latte for just $50 (its lowest price ever)? Probably not, but I’m going to have some more coffee before I decide for sure. The reviews are fantastic, and I do like fussy coffee….

Super Saver Shipping has changed

Heads up, Amazon fans—if you don’t use Prime and have relied on the Super Saver Shipping threshold to obtain free shipping at Amazon on your purchases, be aware that as of today, the minimum to reach SSS is now $35 rather than $25.

Needless to say, that’s kind of a bummer.

If you plan to do some holiday shopping online and you have never before done a free Prime trial, you can sign up for a free 3-month trial of Amazon Mom Prime right now and that will carry you through pre-season shopping as well as post-season sales.

After years of scoring free Prime trials for the holidays, I confess that I now pay for Prime. I think the additional savings on items I buy via Subscribe & Save more than pays for my membership, but then, I buy a lot of stuff online. Even if you don’t keep Prime, having it for holiday shopping is pretty nice (especially in light of this change to SSS).

Ship happy

Ordinarily I go for plain, clear shipping tape… but when the fancy stuff is cheaper than the plain stuff, I figure why not go a little crazy. Right now Amazon has this 6-Pack of Scotch Decorative Shipping Packaging Tape available for just $7.87 shipped (with Prime or Super Saver Shipping at $25+)—its lowest price ever. That’s about $1.33/roll, and if you’ve ever bought the cheap-o packing tape instead of Scotch, my guess is that you came back to Scotch having learned your lesson.

Or maybe that just happened to me.

Regardless, now you can get the Scotch quality in pretty patterns, making all of your boxes more festive, and leaving your more money for the stuff to put inside the boxes. Perfect!

We’re about due for a “you’ll never believe what I got” post, yes?

I haven’t been thrifting in months (no time, no energy), but hit Goodwill yesterday because it’s finally getting colder here and I wanted to look for some sweaters and/or long-sleeved shirts. Naturally I found absolutely nothing I wanted, though I’d picked up a few items for my teens by the time I decided I’d just run through the dresses rack before checking out and going home.

It was one of those I-don’t-really-need-it-but-I-can’t-pass-it-up sorts of things: A silk Banana Republic dress with the $130 price tag still attached, for… $3. And now it’s mine (for less than the cost of a fancy cup of coffee).

What’s your best recent score?

Friends & Family for the fancy

I don’t often shop at Lord & Taylor, but when they have their Friends & Family discount, combining the coupon with their clearance offerings yields some excellent deals on stuff I otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford. It’s a beautiful thing. Just use code FRIENDS to save an extra 25% on almost everything. I tested it on a Kate Spade purse (because that’s the sort of thing that’s usually excluded from additional discounts…) and it worked, which means that if you have expensive taste, this is the sale you don’t want to miss.

Purchases here are eligible for free 2-day shipping with ShopRunner, and of course you can sign up for a free, no-obligation trial there if you haven’t already.

I have to go take that purse out of my cart. But I think I see some boots I need….
