Pamper your hair for the holiday

Not to be left out of the Memorial Day sale craze, Folica is running a mystery sale—just press the “Get Lucky” button to receive a code for 15%-25% off your order. (Hint, although you didn’t hear this from me… you can press the button more than once. Ahem.)

If you’re in the market for a flat iron, their deal of the week is amazing: it’s a 1 3/4″ Solia flat iron (I like the wider plates for thicker or very long hair) for just $59 (down from $165), plus you get a free 2-year extended warranty, free heat-proof storage mat/pouch, and a free product sample along with it. And you can use your coupon on this special!

Shipping is free on $50+ (after coupon). So you may end up saving so much on that iron, you need to throw in something else to get your free shipping. (I recommend a heat protectant to use with the iron. I like the Redken Smooth Down, and it’s on sale!)

Memorial Day means electronics deals

As if the prices on refurbished electronics over at Cowboom weren’t already low enough, this weekend you can use coupon code memorial10 to take an additional $10 off your $100+ purchase. Most items ship for free, too.

One of my kids was just pricing out iPod Touches and the variety in pricing was kind of hilarious. If you don’t mind a few additional scratches, you can score a ridiculous deal.

As always on Cowboom, read the descriptions carefully. Although we’ve had great luck with our purchases there, they do tend to come without accessories, so be sure you know exactly what you’re getting before you buy.

I’m a sucker for President Martin Sheen

I am so completely behind the times and uncool, I never saw The West Wing when it was on television. I can’t tell you why, other than that I somehow missed it in the beginning and then as people were talking about how great it was I figured I would be lost, starting in the middle. (See also: Lost. I’ve never seen that, either.) And then one glorious summer, my husband broke out the DVD set and we watched the whole thing, beginning to end. I’m pretty sure I yelled at the television when it was over. Because it was so good and I didn’t want it to end.

Today’s Amazon Gold Box holds the entire series on DVD for just $79.99. It contains 45 discs, so that works out to around $1.77/disc. Kind of hard to beat that price.

If you’ve never seen it, this could be your chance. Or if (like my husband) you’ve seen it, but not for a really long time, hey, I don’t judge.

Memorial Day savings at Express

Add another sale to the roster—over at Express they’re taking 40% off of everything through the weekend. (Discount appears in cart automatically.)

Want to save even more? Spend $100+ and coupon code 1665 will take another $25 off your total.

Shipping is a flat $8, or free on your $125+ purchase.

Memorial Day comes to Frederick’s

I can hear some of you now. “But Mir,” you say, giving me meaningful eyebrows, “doesn’t Frederick’s of Hollywood sell, you know, trashy stuff?” The answer, of course, is that yes, they do. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that!) Mostly they sell lingerie, and it’s often very… ummm… interesting lingerie, at that.

But they also sell regular clothing, and shoes, and accessories like bags, and some activewear that I swear no one would know came from Frederick’s if you didn’t tell them. And right now all activewear is automatically 75% off, and all swim and clearance items are an extra 40% off, and even though the site says free shipping on $75, I have a present for you: Use coupon code SHIPFREE for free shipping on any size order.

And hey, if you buy some of the interesting stuff, more power to you. I’ll just be over here in my yoga pants.

Need something to watch?

It’s not Memorial Day quite yet, but enterprising retailers aren’t going to let that stop them. Right now the Warner Brothers Shop is having a blowout sale on DVDs and Blu-rays in celebration of the upcoming holiday, and all discs ship for free, automatically.

Search on 3fe to find 3-packs of movies for the best deals—the Blu-rays in this category are mostly $8.99, and if there’s a better deal than $3/Blu-ray on movies you actually want, I don’t know what it is.

You may be able to apply coupon code WBAFF5 for an extra $5 off $50+, too, but I haven’t tested that yet. I’m just busy throwing movies in my cart….

Guilt-free lollipops

Want to be a hero to your kids? Buy a whole mess of lollipops. I’m not saying I’ve done this, but I’ve totally done this. The thing is, though, I’m totally a hippie when it comes to food, and I don’t want my kids eating all kinds of weird dyes and high fructose corn syrup and stuff. So when I want to buy their love, I go for these Yummy Earth Lollipops—they’re delicious and made of all-natural stuff and no dyes.

Right now this 30-ounce bin is marked at $16.15 at Amazon, but there’s a 20% off coupon to clip on the page, and then buying via Subscribe & Save will save you anywhere from another 5% to another 20% (if you have Mom Prime and 5+ subscriptions this month), making the final price very nice indeed. S&S gets you free shipping, too.

In fact, I’d be all over this deal, but I bought a 5-pound bag of these the last time they were on sale, and we haven’t quite finished them yet….

An unexpected insomnia perk

Sometimes when I can’t sleep I get up and work in the middle of the night and feel super-productive. Mostly I get up and work and feel super-tired, though. So tonight (this morning? I am so confused) as I was poking around, it felt like a extra bonus to discover there’s a Woot-Off happening right now. Why work when I can sit here and watch the rotating deals at Woot, Home.Woot, Kids.Woot, Sport.Woot, and Wine.Woot? With $5 shipping for the whole day’s worth of purchases, my insomnia can get me started early on the deal-finding, and my mind can be blown by things like the fact that there’s a wine aerator currently available in the Home.Woot section instead of Wine.Woot. Chaos!

Yeah, I should probably try to go back to bed for a while….
