A good day for growing children
Uh, I mean it’s a good day for your children to get taller/bigger, not that it’s a good day to plant kids in the soil. Though if that works for you, um, Godspeed, I guess.
Anyway! It’s another free shipping day over at Children’s Place, plus if you use coupon code V8KFAY13 you’ll get an additional 20% off your order.
So if someone woke up 2 inches taller today or one of your darlings just brought you a pair of pants which mysteriously blew out the knees (through no fault of anyone’s, naturally), you’re covered. Order what you need now, and by the time it happens all over again, there’ll be another sale.
Not as much fun as shoes, but…
… if you—like us—use those expensive allergen-filtering air filters in your home heating/cooling system and wonder why they are never on sale (so that you have more money to buy shoes…), today is a great day to check out the Special Buy of the Day at Home Depot. They’ve got select Filtrete filters at 60% off, so you can stock up with a case or two and pat yourself on the back for all the money you’ve saved. You’ll get free shipping, too.
And then with the money you saved, well, you probably deserve a little something pretty.
iPad savings, just for today
If you’ve been looking for a pre-owned iPad deal, today would be a good day to scoot on over to Cowboom—their featured Deal of the Day is a 16GB iPad 2 for just $250 + $5 shipping.
My experience with Cowboom in general lis that their refurbished items work fine but have more cosmetic blemishes than you’d find if, say, you were buying from the Apple Store. As long as you’re planning to use a case of some kind (and you should, to protect your items, anyway), it’s pretty much a moot issue. Unless you need something pristine, this is a great way to score a bargain.
Big savings on movies that confuse me
So today’s Amazon Gold Box is filled with discounts on Studio Ghibli movies, which is great if your kids are like mine and think these are the greatest films ever made.
Personally, my kids made me watch Ponyo and I spent half the movie yelling at the screen. Because this fish becomes a person? And eats ham? And a single mom says to her 5-year-old “Oh hey, there’s a huge storm coming, so I am going to go back down the mountain to what will probably be my death, but you just hang out here, okay? Okay.” And then the kids just go tooling around in a motorboat. Nothing about this movie made any sense to me. I wanted to call CPS, but the whole fish-that-became-a-girl thing seemed like it would be hard to explain.
If you’re better at suspending your disbelief than I am, though, this might be a good deal for you.
More gluten-free bargain goodness
Right now (if you’re eligible for Amazon grocery coupons) there’s an available $3 off coupon at Amazon for the 3-pack of Bisquick Gluten-Free Pancake and Baking Mix, which I hear is pretty good. (Full disclosure: I’ve never tried it, but I did just order it.) If you’re up to 20% off on your monthly Subscribe & Save orders (I am), you can get those three boxes for $7.03 shipped, which is probably about what it costs them to ship it to you.
Anyway, if you have a need for it, it’s a pretty sweet deal.
Getcha some Gap deals
It’s the perfect time to score some deals over at Gap—through May 19th, you can take an additional 40% off already-on-sale items with coupon code GAPSALE.
Lately the available Gap coupons have had a ton of exclusions, like they don’t work on baby clothes or jeans (which, hello, what else is there to buy at Gap…?), but this one appears to work on everything. Hooray! As long as it’s on sale, you can get the extra 40% off.
Shipping is automatically free on your $50+ order, or add any item from Piperlime to your cart to get free shipping on your whole order.
Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday!
It’s Wednesday (all day), and you know what that means: It’s time to hit up Kohls! They’ve got a slew of door busters and their regular sale stuff, and of course there’s bonuses galore.
Everyone gets $10 Kohls Cash back for every $50 spent, and everyone gets automatic free shipping on $75+. If you have a Kohls charge card, use coupon code SAVE30 for an additional 30% off, plus code GOOD2BMVC for free shipping on any size order. No Kohls charge? You can still use coupon code SMS1523 for an extra 15% off.
With deals like this, Wednesdays are almost fun. Almost.
Love it over at Lands’ End
If you’ve been waiting for a decent Lands’ End coupon to do some summer shopping for the whole family, today may just be the day. Use coupon code TWILL with PIN 5720 for 30% off just about everything, plus free shipping on your $50+ order. That last coupon where you got 40% off one thing was perfect for getting yourself a new bathing suit; this coupon is perfect for the moment when you discover your child’s entire summer wardrobe has miraculously grown smaller since last year. So weird!
(Listen, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)
More protein, more bars
We’ve become something of protein bar connoisseurs over here at my house; this is what happens when you have skinny teenagers who are always too much in a hurry to eat a proper breakfast.
Right now Amazon has two flavors of Builder’s Clif Bars available for under a buck a bar—$11.49 gets you a dozen. If you’re up to 20% off on your Subscribe & Save, a dozen bars will only cost you $9.19 delivered. These have 20 grams of protein apiece, and the reviews indicate they’re pretty tasty. Anyway, both the chocolate mint and the vanilla almond are available at this price when you select the flavor name and “2.40 ounce” as the product size.
We’ve been paying around $2/apiece for a different brand with a similar protein content, so I’m hoping my kids will like these.
Squeeze your organics
If your kids love food in pouches (and really, that’s second only to “putting food on a stick” in the rules of making edibles more delicious), but you love all things organic/healthy, take a look over at Kids.Woot today. They’ve got 24 packs of Plum Kids Organic Fruit and Yogurt Mash-ups available for just $15. These are still running right around $27 at Amazon, so the price gets comparable if you’re up to 20% off with Subscribe & Save and you only want one 24-pack (because remember, you’ll need to pay shipping at Woot), but if you want a bunch, it’s probably cheaper to buy via Woot.
Contemplating these for my own kiddos, though the fact that it says “kids” on the label may make it too uncool for teenagers. Hrm.
