Stock-up time at Walgreens
You need a bunch of stuff at Walgreens, anyway, so why not get it all online and enjoy savings and free shipping? Exactly.
Whether you need snacks, supplements, band-aids, whatever, they’ve got it. And you’ll get automatic free shipping on your $25+ order, plus for a limited time you can apply coupon code 10OFF50 for an additional $10 off $50+.
Check out the Clearance Center for the best deals, of course. And did you know that their coupon link allows you to use printable coupons on your online purchase? Pretty slick.
It’s a beautiful day to Body Shop
You know I’m a total enabler when it comes to the luscious body butters from The Body Shop. Sorry I’m not sorry. I just love them, and I love giving them to people who’ve not had them before. (They’re always all, “Oh my goooooosh, what is this stuff? My skin is so soft!”)
Today’s a great day to indulge—every order ships for free, today (Tuesday, April 9th), plus body butters are just $10/pop. And 25% off nearly everything else, too, just in case you want something besides body butters. I mean, I hear they carry other stuff.
A best-selling tome for under $2
Been looking for your next read? Why not grab the best-selling Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson for your Kindle right now for just $1.99? It’s over a thousand pages of geeky, detailed, storytelling delight.
Of course one of the reviews says something about “… if you read this book in one sitting,” and now all I can think about is how amazing it would be to be able to read 1,100 pages in a single sitting. I mean, I could totally do that if I didn’t have to work or deal with my family, I suppose….
Blend me up, Buttercup
I kind of have a thing for kitchen tools. (I know, you’re shocked.) For me, a stick blender is never going to be a “must-have” item for the average kitchen, but it’s definitely a “nice-to-have” item. I have both a regular blender and a food processor and I still use my stick blender quite a lot.
All of that said, a good stick blender can be really expensive, so a deal like this may be the right one for you if you’re on the fence: Right now Amazon has the Cuisinart CSB-76 SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender for just $20 if you’re willing to forgo that rainbow of color options and just get the white. This is not the latest version; the newer model has two speeds and costs $35. (My stick blender only has one speed. I have no idea why you’d want two speeds. Isn’t the point to pulverize whatever you put it into?)
And because I know it’s inevitable that someone will ask what a stick blender is good for: Black bean soup. Not having to pour hot soup into a blender and risk splattering it everywhere to blend it down is very, very nice. Also it’s good for a quick late-night milkshake. I mean, allegedly.
Emergency charging on the go
One of my kiddos has been searching for an affordable backup charger for her iPod… something about the tragedy of running out of music on the bus home, I think. I’m not sure. Anyway, all we could find at Target and the like were super-expensive USB units that cost $50+ and had mixed reviews online.
Well, here’s an easy (and cheap) solution: Right now Amazon has this Innovative Digital USB Cell Phone Emergency Charger for just $12.50 (its lowest price ever), and it runs on a couple of AA batteries and works with pretty much anything you can plug into a USB cord.
The reviews are good, and the price is certainly right. Whether you’re keeping a teenager in tunes or just wanting an addition to your emergency kit, this is probably worth grabbing.
And a half-price iPad for you
Love the iPad, hate the iPad full retail price? Hop on over to Cowboom today and score their Deal of the day—it’s a 16GB iPad 2 for just $249!
It doesn’t come with the USB cord or power adapter, but those are easy enough to acquire separately. Note, too, that these units are graded as having “significant scratches or scuffs.” My solution to those items from Cowboom is a new case (voila!), but if that’s going to bother you, buyer beware.
Still, for the price, it’s hard to complain. We’ve bought multiple refurbished items from Cowboom and have always been pleased with our purchases.
Chill out, baby
As a baby, my firstborn never really cared for the swing. But my son… well, let’s just say we kept Duracell in business for quite a while. I’m a big believer in baby swings for fussy babies!
Today’s Kids.Woot is the Graco 2-in-1 Swing & Bouncer Duo for $90, and this is fascinating to me because nothing like this existed when my kids were tiny. It’s a swing, but you can also remove the seat and take it wherever and use it like a bouncy seat (and it has built-in vibration for that as well). Plus, you know, it’s got the little-baby insert padding to hold even wee, floppy infants in place. When my son was a baby, we just rolled up receiving blankets and jammed them in there with him and we liked it.
For comparison, Amazon has the same swing for $140.
Soooo excited for Mad Men!
Did you know that the premiere of this season of Mad Men is tonight?? (What am I saying? If you love the show like I love it, you already know. And if you don’t know it’s because you don’t care. Which is sad.) It’s kind of pathetic, how excited I am, but I’m okay with that.
What I didn’t expect—and love—is that today Rue La La (registration required to browse) is doing a Mad Men boutique! They’ve got tons of retro-chic pieces up there, and I am seriously tempted by the old-school bikini I’m seeing on the first page. Swoon.
Worth checking out if you like old-school style, even if Don Draper isn’t your type.
Black Friday weekend at Bon-Ton, too
I don’t know what’s up with this sudden surge of “Black Friday” events in April, nor why they’re called Black Friday when they last all weekend (that word, I do not think it means what you think it means…), but I find it hard to complain about sale prices.
So. Hey, look, Bon-Ton hopped on the bandwagon and now they’ve got a zillion special buys this weekend. Awesome! Use coupon code APRBLKFRI13 for an extra up-to-25%-off on sale merchandise, plus stack code FREESHIP25 for free shipping on your $25+ order.
I’m seeing deals on… well, pretty much everything. Worth a look if you have some time, for sure.
Need a new hairdryer?
I know it’s not 1985, but as my hair has been getting longer, I’ve been thinking about… well… getting a good hairdryer with a diffuser on it. (I know. Generally I am in the no-drying-curly-hair camp. But sometimes I can’t just hang around the house for three hours while it dries on its own.)
Anyway, whether you want a diffuser or not, I found a pretty awesome hairdryer deal for you. The thing is, sometimes Amazon (perhaps accidentally?) offers multiple coupons on the same item. So some research revealed that the Remington AC2015 Pearl Ceramic Hairdryer got pretty great reviews, and the cheapest I see it at a big-box store is $30. (If you must, here are the reviews at Walmart. I think you know how I feel about Walmart, though.) Right now the same dryer is just $20 at Amazon—their lowest price ever—but it gets better:
Click here for the first coupon (make sure to “clip” it if it doesn’t come up as already clipped) and to add the dryer to your cart. Then click here for the second coupon (again, make sure to “clip” it if it doesn’t show as already clipped). I had some trouble with the second one, so I also went here and clipped that coupon for the curling wand, because I am superstitious and somehow it worked towards the hairdyer. Do note that you must be signed in to your Amazon account to use coupons.
Do all of that, and when you get to checkout, your highly-rated hairdryer which is a bargain at $20 should actually come out to just $12.99. Not bad.
