Christmas shopping starts… now
If your favorite little girl got an American Girl doll or similar for Christmas this year—or is likely to get one, next year—you can start next year’s shopping right now by checking out some of the Dollie & Me markdowns currently available at Amazon. Grab a matching Santa Claus robe set for just $7.90, or an adorable matching dress set for $10.66.
Sizes are limited, but there’s also a Santa Claus pajama set ($9.77) and Santa Claus nightgown set ($9.23), too.
Get ’em quick, then pat yourself on the back come December.
You know what Wednesday means, right?
Wednesday is Kohlsday! Nearly every Wednesday, Kohls has a One Day Sale, because that word “one,” I do not think it means what Kohls thinks it means. This is amusing, of course. But hey, savings are savings, and Wednesdays are good days to save.
So! Shop the sale, today, if you like. Everyone gets free shipping on $75+, automatically, and everyone earns $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 spent. If you have a Kohls charge card, you can use coupon code JELLYBEAN for an additional 30% off, plus coupon code PERK4MVC for free shipping on any size order. No Kohls card? You can still use coupon code EASTER for 20% off your $100+ order.
I feel like I’ve completely gotten sucked into the Kohls vortex; I just spent the last of my Kohls Cash yesterday, and now here we are in another earning period. At some point they’re going to figure out they’re basically paying me to shop, right…? (I hope not.)
Free shipping at Fab!
Hey, today and tomorrow (March 27-28), just about everything at Fab.com is shipping for free. That means if you’ve got some credit laying around that you’ve been wanting to spend—without getting stuck with shipping—now’s the time to shop.
Today’s boutiques just launched, and yesterday’s Cablekeeps boutique is still going—love those for taming the wire monsters in the house.
As a reminder, yes, Fab is one of those places where you have to register to even browse. It’s not so terrible, but I know some folks would rather not bother. (I’ve made more purchases with Fab than I should probably admit, so obviously I’m not put off by it!)
Ninjago(es) in the Easter basket!
If you have Prime, there’s still time to add a little bit of LEGO to your Easter celebration. (What? I’m sure Jesus would’ve approved. I feel certain He would’ve had many wise things to share with his disciples about patience while working on building the Death Star.) (Excuse me while I side-step this lightning bolt….)
Anyway! Recently I heard a great rule of thumb for the cost of LEGO sets—you should figure the full retail price to be around $.10/brick. Which means that this Ninjago Kais Fire Mech set is about 40% off at its current price of $5.95.
And really, who doesn’t want to find a ninja in their basket…?
Time to save on date night
The halcyon days of constant coupons for Restaurant.com may be over, but an upcoming holiday does tend to bring the savings out to play. (Thank you, Easter Bunny!) So you have just a few days to shop for discounted restaurant certificates and save 50% with coupon code BUNNY.
That means $25 of dining will cost you just $5! I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty stoked to save $20 when I can. Do read the fine print—restaurants set their own conditions/restrictions, and you want to know what you’re buying—but this can be a great way to make eating out affordable again.
Goofy stuff, shipping free
Y’all know I have a real love/hate relationship with Urban Outfitters, right? Because A) the regular prices are crazy and B) a lot of their clothing makes me roll my eyes so hard I’m afraid they’ll get stuck. But on the other hand, their sales tend to be good, and in their “Apartment” section I often find great little stocking stuffers and gag gifts, there.
So, I shall remain torn. All I’m saying is that everything ships for free today, automatically, and there’s plenty of stuff on sale. I’m just… letting you know. Because I’m a giver that way. You are welcome.
Offered without comment
If I were not a Mac person, I could comment on various Windows-machine computer deals with some sort of authority. But I am so I can’t. The best I can do is find some reviews for you and let you make up your own mind.
That said, right now Amazon has the Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T available for $635—already on the low end of prices I’m seeing—with a bonus $100 Amazon gift card with purchase. This machine is one of those combo tablet-keyboard-kind-of-a-laptop-but-not-really doohickies (technical term). You can check out the PCWorld review for more information; the editors only gave it a 3 out of 5 stars, but if you check out the comments, a lot of users disagree with that.
I think the whole concept is a little weird, personally, but if for some reason this is the machine you want, it’s the best deal I’ve seen.
Cozy up your Nest
My husband—he who records This Old House and loves home reno projects like they’re puzzles instead of giant pains in the rear—is currently obsessed with the Nest thermostat. Because it learns! And you can control it wirelessly from your iPad! And it does the dishes! (I made that last one up. But the way he talks about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it really does….) The only thing stopping us from getting one is the $250 price tag, because even considering how it’s supposed to save you money, that’s a lot of money for a thermostat.
Anyway, Amazon has the 1st generation Nest in the Gold Box today: it’s just $179, which means just a small cardiac event instead of a full-on heart attack. If you’re interested, here’s a quick crib sheet on the differences between the 1st gen and 2nd gen models.
I still think it should do the dishes, though.
Friends & Family for your underthings
Is it creepy to get discounts on bras and panties as a “friends & family” thing? Maybe a little (or maybe I just have a filthy mind; also possible), but this won’t stop me from taking advantage of the sale at Maidenform. Today (Monday, March 25th) only, take 30% off anything on the site with coupon code FFMAREXT13. Shipping is free on your $75+ order.
And yes, it does work on sale items. So check out the $15 bra sale if you want to snap up some bras for just $10.50. Sweet.
If you love The Big Bang Theory…
… now is a good time to stock up at Amazon.
Ordinarily, I am not a “buy up a television show on DVDs” sort of person. My children, however, have only recently come into deep worship of Dr. Sheldon Cooper, and have steadily been working their way through seasons 1-4. Today I see that Season 5 has just dropped to just $15, and who knows, the Easter Bunny is hoping to circumvent candy this year, soooo… maybe.
Interesting: Season 4, Season 3, and Season 1 are all also around $15. If you want Season 2, though, that’ll cost you extra—it’s still $20. Weird.
And if you aren’t already enjoying TBBT, I highly recommend it. And not just because I am raising my own little Sheldon. It’s really a very funny show.
