And now for something completely blendy

I know nothing about this blender, other than that it’s made by the Ninja Kitchen people, and you know how much I love my Ninja cooker. Wait, I lied—I also know that the retail price is $170.

But right now at Amazon, the Ninja Extreme Kitchen System Pulse Blender with Accessories (in red! pretty!) is just $150 shipped.

Now: Is that a tad spendy for a blender? I think so, unless you’re going whole hog and buying a professional model like a Vitamix or a Blendtec. But this particular blender isn’t just a blender; I am giggling over them calling it an “extreme kitchen system,” of course, but it is a blender as well as a food processor, plus it comes with a couple of blend-and-go cups if you want to run out the door with your smoothie. And this machine runs on a 700 watt motor, which should be sufficient for anything you might need to throw at it. (Please note: Do not actually throw things at your blender.)

If you just need a blender, I stand by my previous recommendation for a KitchenAid as the best intersection of price and functionality. (Mine has been running strong for two years of constant use, and I got it for under $70, shipped.) But if you need a blender and you don’t have a food processor, I could see this being a good compromise with one machine instead of two… and in that case, the price becomes a lot more reasonable.

If you’re a Narnia fan…

… apparently The Keeper and the Rune Stone by Paige Pendleton will be right up your alley, and today the Kindle version is free at Amazon.

[Related: Did you know that you can convert your Nook into an Android tablet? I didn’t, but my kids’ dad recently converted their Nooks, and that allowed them to download Kindle apps and then I registered my son’s Nook to my Amazon account. Now when I see freebies like this, I can grab ’em and send them directly to him! I love it.]

Spanx savings (that sounds dirty)

I know, it sounds dirty, but really it’s not. Especially when you consider that The Spanx Store carries the items we consider to be “Spanx”—bulge-containing underthings, mostly—but they also make clothing, swimsuits, even socks! Spanx should totally change their tagline to “More than just stuff to hide your fat.”

Anyway. Where was I? Oh, right! Today (Friday, January 18th) only, use coupon code SPANXEMP2013 at Spanx to take 20% off your order. Plus you can also use code FREESHIPPING13 for free shipping. True, this doesn’t exactly make the items cheap, but as Spanx very rarely goes on sale, maybe this is your chance to snag that one item you’ve been eyeing.

Not that you need it, of course. You look fantastic.

Organize your space, for less

If part of your New Year’s Resolutions include getting more organized around the house, take a look over at 1 Sale A Day, today. The “Family” section is filled with essentials for organizing every room of the house—from kitchen carts to desks and chairs to vacuum bags. Shipping is free, so even if you order a desk, you don’t have to worry that your savings will be negated by shipping costs.

I’m looking at that mesh-back office chair in there… the 1 Sale A Day price is $90, while it’s $109 at Amazon (good reviews over there, too, though do note that the weight limit is only 250, and there’s a couple of complaints even that may not be too accurate). Not a huge discount, but in my experience these are hard to find on sale at all, given the demand.

Plus, you know, vacuum bags. I love those things.

Pssst! A Kohls reminder

You know how usually when it’s time for new coupons at Kohls and you can earn Kohls Cash, all of those coupons expire before you can actually redeem said Kohls Cash?

I just got my order from them (placed last week). And one of the things I ordered “just to see if it fits” does fit and I want more, so I went to check, and not only was I able to redeem the Kohls Cash from this past order, but all of the coupon codes in this post are still valid. Score!

One day to save at GNC

Need to restock your supplements, or just looking for a good price on things like protein bars? Look no further than GNC. Today (Thursday, January 17th) only, shop the site and use coupon code SALE25 for 25% off everything. Plus, ship your entire order, big or small, for just $1.

I’ll use this to buy things like Vitamin C, but if you’re actually any sort of runner or athlete, it looks like they stock pretty much everything you could possibly want.

Body butter! Body butter! Rah rah rah!

If you’ve been around here for any amount of time, you know I have a deep and abiding love affair with the body butters from The Body Shop. They’re so smooth! So hydrating! And they always seem so decadent—are there really people out there who pay $19/pop for them?? I’m usually happy for the occasional splurge when they’re down in the $8-$10 range.

But pretty reader Laurin just alerted me to the fact that right now, select body butters are just $5! And shipping is free on your $50+ every order! That’s on top of their big Winter Sale, with savings galore. Stock up for next Christmas, or just treat yourself. At these prices, you really don’t even need an excuse.

Bundle up; deals on leather (and not)

I always forget about Wilsons Leather, even though that was one of those ubiquitous stores at the mall I grew up with. No matter what else came and went, Wilsons was always there.

Of course now you can shop them online, and it puzzles me no less now than it did when I was a kid that they carry so very many things which are not actually leather. Right now they’re taking an automatic extra 20% off already-reduced clearance prices when you add items to your cart, and if you need some outerwear or accessories, this is the time to shop. I mean, yes, sure, they also have purses and stuff, but they have some really nice coats and jackets (most of which aren’t even leather).

Shipping is free with ShopRunner or you can sign up for their email list if you’re a new customer and get free shipping on your first order.

Got time to dig for a deal?

I’ll confess, I have a love/hate relationship with “Final Sale” days at Rue La La. On the one hand, they have no search function, and if you want something specific, that can make it hard to track down that particular item. And I would love, love, love it if they offered a “view all available on a single page” kind of option, so that you don’t have to keep clicking through the different designers or whatever.

On the other hand, Final Sale days are when I buy—the prices are rock-bottom, and while the sizes/colors are somewhat limited, the deals tend to make up for a bit of hunting and rummaging.

Then again, I know there are quite a few of you who refuse to shop at any “you have to register to browse” sites, so maybe this whole problem is unique to me. So. Uh. Hey! There’s a good sale going at Rue La La today. The end.
