A very Friday Kohlsday

You may have noticed I didn’t post anything at Kohls this Wednesday. That’s because the sales/coupons at Kohls this week were weak. Very disappointing. I wanted to buy some socks (oh hush, sock are important when you finally come to terms with having a drawerful of ones with holes in ’em…) and simply couldn’t justify shopping amongst such dismal savings options.

But it’s okay! They’re making it up to us today—their “Savings Resolution” sale is on, plus everyone earns $10 of Kohls Cash for every $50 spent, plus the coupons are way better, now. Everyone can use code SKATING for 15% off any order or SLEDDING for 20% off $100+. And everyone gets free shipping on $75+, automatically. If you have a Kohls charge card, it’s even better; use coupon code SHIPPINGMVC for free shipping on any size order, and coupon code LOVE2SHOP for 30% off everything.

Now I’m going to go get some socks.

Get your boots on

Did you happen to notice that today at 6pm they’re having a tall boot clearance? Get up to 70% off some gorgeous options. This is one time when I’m grateful for the silliness of “retail calendars”—it may be clearance-time to them, but for us mere mortals, there’s still a whole season left to flaunt our pretty new boots. Heh.

Savings at HSN

Here, I’ve hermetically sealed this deal in plastic wrap for you, as we seem to have become the house of plague overnight. Careful! Only touch the edges! And then go use some hand sanitizer. (The things I do for you….)

Anyway. If you’re a fan of HSN online, there’s a few different ways to save, today. If you’ve never shopped them online before, you can use coupon code 1FREENEW to get free shipping on your first order, and that’s probably the coupon to use if you’re shopping the clearance and only want one or two things. Or anyone can use coupon code 10OFF50 for $10 off your $50+ order, which might be a better deal particularly if you’re shopping among their items on special right now.

I find much of what they carry to be… uhhh… interesting… but I do see some nice stuff in their holiday clearance, if you’re still looking for some deals there.

Clearance at JC Penney on… just about everything

Alert (and pretty!) reader Jennifer was kind enough to point out over on the Want Not Facebook page that JC Penney is having a huge toy clearance right now. I went to check it out, and it turns out they’re having a huge everything clearance right now—you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything that isn’t at least 30% off, and there’s plenty of stuff more like 50-70% off.

Spend $50+ and they’ll ship it to your home for free, or spend any amount of and pick it up at your local store for free, if you’d rather.

I’m actually overwhelmed by the amount of stuff on sale. That hardly ever happens. (Don’t worry, I’ll work through it. I’m a trooper like that.)

Stock up at Philosophy

Ready to get a jump on next Christmas? I know, it seems early, but the early bird gets the worm, and the early bargain shopper gets to be smug next year. (Also: relaxed. Smug maybe isn’t such a good goal, I realize, but relaxed is always good.)

Right now at Philosophy, the Holiday Sale means there’s tons of your favorite seasonally-scented items on clearance—most are half off their regular price. I absolutely love their little “ornaments” (mini containers of their scented shower gel/bubble bath) for suitable-for-anyone gifts to have on hand for the holidays, and at $3/pop you can hardly go wrong.

Use coupon code thanks for free shipping on any size order, or use coupon code united for 20% off your $50+ order, and as long as your post-coupon total is still over $50, you’ll receive automatic free shipping.

Oooh, I just noticed they’ve got a “Mother’s Day” Amazing Grace collection in the Holiday Sale, too. You could get a jump on next winter and totally score for Mother’s Day. Go ahead, be smug.

Picture this

If you’re in the market for a new point-and-shoot camera, make sure you check today’s Target Daily Deals—the featured deal is a Canon PowerShot SX150 for $89 with free shipping.

For comparison, the same camera is running around $120 at Amazon, with largely favorable reviews.

This is certainly not the latest/greatest/fanciest option out there, but for under $100, I’d say it’s a good buy on a decent little camera. It’s perfect for a tween/teen ready to move up to something “real” without going super-high-end.

Panty raid!

Has your drawer of delicates become a wasteland of tattered elastic? Don’t be (too) ashamed; we’ve all been there. Today would be an excellent day to get yourself some panties from this century—why, over at Maidenform they’re taking 50% off all panties, today (Wednesday, January 9th) only!

And that’s not some pseudo-sale where it’s 50% off the MSRP, either. If something is marked as a $9 MSRP, but $5 price on the site, it comes up at $2.50 in your basket. Sweet!

Shipping is free on $75+, so you may as well replace ’em all….

Got glasses?

Just a little reminder of a deal you may want if you have some money left over in your medical spending account (I know for us, we get a little grace period into the next year to finish spending)—right now you can get your first pair of glasses from Coastal Contacts for free with coupon code FIRSTPAIRFREE. You’ll still need to pay for shipping (and any upgrades from standard lenses), but it’s still a great deal. I’ve ordered from them and been very happy with the results; just make sure that your local eye care professional measures your pupillary distance (PD) for you before you order.

If you’ve already ordered from them before, you can use code NEWYEAR30 for 30% off frames and lenses, or code NEWYEAR10 for 10% off your contacts. All orders of $99+ ship for free with coupon code FREESHIP.

This is particularly good if you have children who need spare glasses because they ruin everything. Uh, hypothetically, of course.

A Gold Box for the DIYers

Today’s Amazon Gold Box holds a hefty deal for those of you who like to do your own work around the house—they’ve got a Bosch 12-Volt Lithium-Ion 3/8-Inch Drill/Driver with 2 L-BOXX cases available for just $94 shipped (less than half the usual price, and their lowest price ever).

My renovation skills are limited to painting, caulking, and colorful swearing while taking down wallpaper, so I turned to my own personal tool-guy to find out if this was, indeed, a good deal. He says: “12V is fine for a light-duty kit, and Bosch is a good name and the lithium batteries are good. That box arrangement is kind of cool, too.” Then I asked him what his drill voltage is and he said 18V, though we were conversing over IM so I cannot confirm that he puffed up his chest a little when he said it.

I think if you’re not building a house from scratch this is a decent drill at a great price for what you get.

24 hours to save big

Have your eye on something at the Gap family of stores? Today (Tuesday, January 8th) would be the day to shop—all day, shop at Gap, Old Navy, or Banana Republic and you can use coupon code 24HOURS for 30% off or a whopping 35% off if you have a store card.

There’s a long list of exclusions (aren’t there always?), but for the most part, it works on stuff already on sale, which means this is a good time to scoop up some savings without having to brave the mall.

And don’t forget that the sites share a shopping cart! Get to $50+ in any combination of stores/items and your order will ship for free. Or add anything from Piperlime (where the 24HOURS code will get you 20% off) and get free shipping on your entire order regardless of total.
